My New York winter:  The fire is on, soft music is playing, I'm wearing comfy flannels and warm socks, reading a good book on the couch, and snow is falling in blizzard-like fashion!

Forgotten Techniques:
Background Scraps & Stickles

I probably posted this useful card making technique before, but after over 300 e-news, I may be at risk of repeating myself!  However, it is worth repeating in my view because I have drawers of backgrounds that are awaiting a new life and I'm guessing you do too!

CreationsCeeCee is someone I've followed for a long time and I happened upon one of her YouTube videos that worked with our topic today.  I hope you can take a moment and watch her video link HERE.

Meanwhile, I took a bunch of my backgrounds and divided them by color families.  The first one I worked with was in the green pallet.  Not only did I use some backgrounds, I dug out my Stickles!!!  I thought for sure they'd be all dried up.  I mean, we're talking back in Stampin' & Scrappin' Time days when I was using Stickles (the store closed in 2013) and I had them before then!!!

So here are my cards that I'm gaga over because they're doodled, with hand cut circles, and Stickles for sparkle!  TIP:  To add Stickles, use a "stabbing" motion all over without over thinking the action.  Amazingly, it works great!

Everything is free hand cut including the leaves.  You can cut circles as wonky as you want along with the leaves for that matter!
I had a previously splattered card base that I didn't use and built this card design over the top of it!  It worked great and I didn't have to re-splatter gold paint as I felt it was sufficient.  I did hand write the sentiment, which I never do, but I was in one of those "what the heck" moods and went for it.
I really like the wintery feel of this card.  I ended up using silver Stickles, silver acrylic paint and white Stickles.  Some dots were purposeful and some were "stabbings."  I doodled the flower centers and ended up not liking them, so I cut more circles and covered up the mess I made!
Can you believe I had the perfect Stickles for this background????  Of course you do!  I only had a small piece of background paper to work with so I decided to cut three circles and make one flower.  I was experimenting with floating the leaves and I think I should have attached them to the stem for a better visual.  Oh well, it's a cute little card that someone will receive in 2020.
I think the best part of these recycled cards is the added sparkle!  Once I know the purpose of the card, I'll leave the front sentiment off.  For now, my purpose is to have fun!
Clearly, these little cuties are addicting to make and it's quite possible I can't stop!  I'm hoping you're going into your background stash and finding out what I'm so tickled pink about!

Have a pleasant week!

XOXO
