Dear <<First Name>>!

Writing a New Book:
I’m writing a new book that will help train and deploy a more diverse army of missionaries for the harvest.
The book will cover fundraising from an ethnic minority perspective, deal with identity, stress, & fear, and will apply many of the theological categories that I’ve been writing about in these newsletters directly to the field (e.g. reciprocity, brokerage, honor, and more). These categories are more relevant than ever to unlock biblical teaching and tactics for missionaries raising support (and not just those from Asian cultures). For decades, most fundraising training has been unknowingly biased against missionaries who don’t identify with majority culture. We can’t afford that any longer in our global world. This book will be used in the initial training for missionaries and will be a consulted resource for the long haul.

Impact of the Last Edition:
I’m not being pretentious. Some of you know this was the impact of the last book I wrote on this subject and released in 2015 (shown on right). It was baked into the training for new staff and interns. Seasoned staff teams also use it. Originally authored for Cru’s Asian-American ministry, it’s been distributed to other missionary organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Even though it’s quite dated now, I still regularly receive inquiries about this from around the world to this day.

For example, just this past week Kingdom Rice board members and I met with  Overseas Missionary Fellowship’s president and team, and I met with Support Raising Solutions, a ministry of the Center for Mission Mobilization. They run the nation’s premier missionary fundraising conference; few organizations can speak with greater authority on this subject and articulate the growing need for this new book.

“More and more organizations are moving towards increasingly diverse and global incoming staff. However, this increased diversity comes with significant obstacles that challenge support raising, obstacles like unchurched backgrounds, broken homes, communities of lower income and global poverty. The increase of missionaries coming from these diverse communities is an exciting testimony to the movement of the Spirit of God. Our organization is looking around and seeing the void of widely available support raising tools that adequately and holistically provide solutions. When I discovered the fundraising tool Steve wrote, it was the most comprehensive training piece I’ve ever read to address this need.” - Callie Buchholtz, Director of Resource Development, Support Raising Solutions

Partnering with Missionary Organizations:
I'm humbled and honored to write this when I know there are more articulate and experienced voices on the subject. I've already begun getting necessary permission to include voices from different missionary organizations to bring more power to the project. I'm grateful for the relationships I have with them to make this new volume possible, especially my relationship with Cru. Ten years ago when I was on staff with Cru, my earliest editions were not welcomed. Today, they're putting sizable trust in me and financing half the cost of my time even though I left staff more than seven years ago. But pray for me that God would inspire every step of the project until it's planned release this summer.

Be part of God's Provisions for our Work:
