From the Director's Desk

Greetings,

Here at the Black Arts & Cultural Center we're in a season of transition. We're continuing to grow the organization all in an effort to preserve history and uphold the legacy of BACC, while prioritizing sustainability and maintaining a standard of excellence for the future. As the new Executive Director, I'm optimistic about the trajectory of BACC. There are many exciting ventures on the horizon that we look forward to implementing in an effort to have the greatest community impact possible. With your support some we will host this years Black Arts Festival at Bronson Park, plan for a new space to support more community and enhance more programs for youth and professionals. We are the community's Black Arts & Cultural Center! Our work is for the community and we want the community to be a part of what we do by giving us insight on what you'd like to see from us, helping us to implement your ideas and supporting us in carrying out our work. I look forward to us continuing to work with the community to provide black arts and black culture to the entire Kalamazoo community.

As we approach the end of 2019, The Irving S. Gilmore Foundation applauds our efforts and the belief that engaging arts, culture, and history are critical to a strong community. For that reason, they have agreed to match funds donated to BACC during our 2019 Year End Fundraising Campaign. We ask that you join us in impacting the community by contributing to the critical work that we carry out.

Please consider getting your donation matched here: https://blackartskalamazoo.org/donate/

Thank you in advance for supporting black arts and culture in Kalamazoo.

Blessings,

Sydney Davis
