New Email Address for Pharmacy Provider Inquiry:
  • To streamline claim inquiries, a new email address medicaidpharmacy@nd.gov has been created. Please use this email or provider relations number 1-800-755-2604 for all pharmacy inquiries.
  • Direct emails to Vivian (or emails/voicemails to Brendan, LeNeika, and Alexi) are not monitored while out of the office and may not get a timely response.
    • Vivian’s direct phone number, the provider relations number, and the new email address ARE monitored M-F 8a to 5pm regardless of out of office status (with the exception of state office closures).
  • To expedite review, please leave as much information as possible including either the ID number or spelled last name and birth date of your patient.
Clarification on which “Group” to use for billing Expansion and CHIP patients and ID Cards:
  • The Medicaid ID Cards have now been mailed to patients.
  • There is no way to tell from the card which “Group” a patient belongs to between FFS, PCCM, Expansion, or CHIP.
    • To ease provider billing because of frequent switching between plans, the system does not reject claims for incorrect group between FFS, PCCM, Expansion, or CHIP, even though on the payer sheets you will note different groups for each plan.
    • You can bill Expansion and CHIP claims the same way you have been billing traditional Medicaid claims or if you know the correct group, you can of course bill the correct group.
Staff Update:
On October 23rd, we welcomed Teri Stastny to our ND Medicaid state pharmacy team as our Medicaid Pharmacy System Specialist. She and Vivian work together to respond to claim inquires. She has already been a great addition to our team and we will certainly continue to appreciate her work as our claim volume increases from processing CHIP and Medicaid Expansion claims.

I want to take the opportunity on this last email of the year to wish you all a Happy and Safe New Year and Thank You again for the effort you give to communicate insurance changes to your patients and prescribers at the beginning of the each new year (and throughout the year).
