God is Faithful!
2019 has been a wonderful year of serving!  We completed over 120 projects and 11 ramps, serving 47 families all over the Birmingham area.  Then we ended the year by delivering Christmas Blessing Bags with food and other gift items.  We included a large-print Bible for the first time this year and everyone sincerely appreciated it.  We plan to begin providing a Bible for each family we serve all year long next year. We all need His Word to instruct us and teach us in the way we should go (Psalm 32:8)!

Our mission continues to be to serve those around us who have limited resources by making critical home repairs.  God has been faithful to provide what we need, when we need it, and we are confident that He will continue to sustain the work He has called us to do.  Thank you to all our donors and volunteers for partnering with us this year and for your continued help in 2020.  Above all, we ask for your prayers that we will “look to the Lord for His strength and seek His face always” (1 Chronicles 16:11).
4th Quarter Serving Highlights
We built three ramps on two Saturdays:

Ms. B is 92 and lives alone. Roy is a member of her church and has been helping her on a daily basis.  It was our privilege to serve alongside him to build this ramp for her.
Ms. M took in her disabled sister after her other sister passed away.  She had an old ramp that was falling apart that we replaced.
Mr. H had a stroke which left him unable to walk. His sister called us to help their family as he was having great difficulty getting out of the house for therapy.
We helped about 40 other clients with critical home repairs including Ms. W.  She is a double-amputee and her roof was beyond repair, but we were able to help her with a NEW ROOF on her house. Our handyman worked all during the quarter to repair roofs, floors, plumbing, replaced sheetrock and installed several sets of handrails to help keep the elderly and disabled safe in their homes.
Christmas Blessing Bags
Together we prepared and delivered 43 Christmas Blessing Bags to some special clients.  Many of them have no family and only received our gift bag for Christmas.  We received expressions of their thanks, not only for the Bible, sweaters, blankets, and food, but also in gratitude for visiting and remembering them. It was a joy to see them during this season of joy!
SERVE DAYS
Serve Days have been a great way to get organized.  We plan to continue with regularly scheduled days into 2020.
Our first two days are scheduled for:
  • January 11, 2020 – Ramp for Ms. H in North Birmingham who had a stroke
  • February 8, 2020 – Large handyman project or a ramp
Volunteers will meet at the Chick-Fil-A on Lakeshore at 8 am.  Wear your Hearts in Hands t-shirt.  If you don’t have one, we’ll have one for you there!  Watch your email and our Facebook page for additional details and more dates in 2020.
Special Request - Storage Unit
We are frequently offered appliance donations which are a wonderful blessing.  Many times, we already have someone ready to receive them, but there are times when we would like to store them for future use.  Unfortunately, we do not have any storage and we currently have some appliances we need to store.  If you or someone you know has unused space at a storage facility that you would be willing to donate to Hearts in Hands, preferably in the 280/Hoover area - even if for a limited time, please email us at contact@heartsinhands.org.
Watch for exciting changes coming soon!
