Hi everyone!

Happy New Year!! December was a busy month for us all, I'm sure. Hope everyone had a great holiday and that tonight will be no different.

No meetings or field trips this past month, but lots was happening. Our camp-out to Dupuis was a great success. I saw some great photos from the group. I can't wait for our next outing. And yes, even newbie me survived, and with a few tweaks to my gear, will be back again to camp another day. We also had the club Christmas party at the Palace Gardens. Again, looks like a good time was had by all! I'd like to thank everyone who worked so hard to put these events together for us. These things don't just happen, and no one gets paid to do so. Everyone does it with love and I just want to let you all know it is very much appreciated!

In January we have the Homestead Rodeo! A club favorite. Our meeting on Thursday the 2nd (don't forget!) we'll have a short video on how to best photograph sports and rodeos in particular. On January 26th we'll meet at the rodeo and put to use our new knowledge. Check the website for more info (it's not updated yet... I'll work on that tonight).

To end the year on a high note (figuratively, ahem...) I'll leave you with a quote. I wish you all a very happy new year and please, be safe if you go out tonight, we want to see you all in 2020. For me, my partying days are over. I have better plans for 2020. Enjoy!

May Light always surround you;
Hope kindle and rebound you.
May your Hurts turn to Healing;

Your Heart embrace Feeling.
May Wounds become Wisdom;
Every Kindness a Prism.
May Laughter infect you;
Your Passion resurrect you.
May Goodness inspire
your Deepest Desires.
Through all that you Reach For,
May your arms Never Tire.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBER EVENTS

Do YOU have an upcoming event you'd like to promote through the SFNPCC newsletter and on our website? We've discussed and approved promoting our members' individual activities, so let me have them! I'll add them to our "Upcoming Events" note (and include a link to a website if you give me one). Email it to me at info@sfnpcc.org with all of the details.
Our January meeting is this Thursday, Jan. 2nd, at 7pm like always. Sue has found a great video from an actual rodeo photographer. We'll be watching that and then discussing it. For those who have shot at the rodeo before, we'd love to hear your thoughts and learn from your experience.

Hope to see you all there!

Homestead rodeo is an all-weekend event, starting on Friday Jan. 24th through Sunday Jan. 26th. The club will be meeting at the event on Sunday to shoot together. Check the website for updated information.

The early-bird special is still offered till the end of the month! After tonight, prices for the registration go up $20.

So what's this all about? (Glad you asked). The Florida Camera Club Council's (FCCC) annual conference is going to be held March 6th - 8th, in Fort Myers. All weekend they'll have speaker sessions, pre-conference (and one during-conference) workshops, trade show, photo ops, and product demos. Check out their website for all of the info. It's a chance to mingle and be with like minded folks interested in Florida photography. It's a great learning experience too!

If you've previously registered with the FCCC you should have received this memo in your email. If you're interested, follow the email's directions and sign up. If you ARE NOT registered with the FCCC, go and do that now! As a member of the SFNPCC you're automatically a member of the FCCC. Click here for the FCCC WEBSITE's membership page. Why? Because even though you're automatically a member of the FCCC, you still have to register. Once you do that, you'll be able to enter the many competitions they have throughout the year and get special pricing at the FCCC annual conference! So don't delay... join today!

Oh, and there's a special guest going to be there as one of the official speakers... shhhh, gotta click the link to find out. Be sure to register before the end of the year to get the 'early-bird' price.
ALL UPDATES - ANYTIME!

Do you know where to find the latest info for meetings and field trips? Our WEBSITE! Our website is www.sfnpcc.org I like to keep a shortcut linked on my computer's desktop, and my phone, so I can easily connect when I need fast info. Maybe you would too!

SOCIAL MEDIA

SFNPCC is on Instagram!
@sfnpcc_club
Our IG account is well in use. Any images you send will be properly tagged and uploaded for folks to see. So be sure to send me a photo or two from any SFNPCC event!

To find us on Instagram, search for our group name or click here sfnpcc_club. If you prefer me to NOT share on social media, please just say so and I'll leave it off.

Facebook Public Page & Private Group

The club has 2 official Facebook (FB) groups. One is a FB public "page", and the other is a private "group".

The public page is for viewing by the general public; everyone can see and participate. And if you're on FB, you can find it by typing the full name of the club, in the search bar. Or click here PUBLIC PAGE.

Our private FB group is for members only. To join the group, type SFNPCC Members in the search box, and click "JOIN" to request (or click PRIVATE GROUP). If you're a current member of the club, I'll accept you.

Feel free to share club photos, ask for critiques, and ask photography related questions here. This is also where I create our field trip "events" (in addition to our website, of course). We created this private FB account so that we could discuss freely any photography related items without the prying eyes of the general public. Enjoy!

We have a gallery tab on our website, and it's full of images. If you go to the website and click on the Galleries tab, you'll find images from our previous trips, weekends away, our Facebook challenges, and other various events.

Recently added photos include the Scavenger Hunt from July. So be sure to visit and enjoy each other's photos.

Going forward, during each field trip and weekend away, we're taking an attendance of participants. After the event is over, we'll email you all separately to ask to submit a photo or two for the website. We're asking this so we can document the trip and show people who stumble onto our website that we are an active and viable club, worthy of membership! So please, try to remember to send me an image or two.

If you're one who likes to keep his or her work for sales or gallery shows, by all means, keep it for those events, but please share something. Even if you have a good photo of the group shooting or having fun. Those are always welcome too.
So that's all I have for January. Hope to see you at our events. Have a great month, and Happy New Year to all!
