NCUIH End of Year Update

Dear Friends:

Thank you for making 2019 the biggest year for NCUIH yet! We have much to be proud of including a $6 million increase for urban Indian health in FY2020. NCUIH also made major legislative advancements for the FMAP bill and Health Care Access for Urban Native Veterans Act to improve parity for urban Indian health programs.

As we look ahead, we hope you will consider joining the 2019 NCUIH End of Year Giving Campaign. This is an opportunity to help expand our work on critical projects as we hit the ground running in 2020.

This year’s 2019 NCUIH End of Year Giving Campaign will support and expand our work on projects such as:

  • Policy and Advocacy
    • Help NCUIH continue to represent UIOs with federal policymakers and improve health outcomes for the urban Indian population. For over 20 years, NCUIH has devoted all of its efforts to advocate for Urban Indian Health Programs’ interests and needs before Congress and Federal agencies. NCUIH works with Congress to promote awareness of AI/AN disparity issues and resources to better serve our AI/AN communities in urban settings.
  • Urban Indian Youth and Suicide Prevention Council
    • The Youth Advisory Council needs your help to: expand the training and opportunities for the Council to be equipped to be the future Urban Indian Health Leaders—and increase the number of forums for our Urban Indian Youth to educate all of us on the optimal way to keep our youth safe and healthy!
  • Preventing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People by Empowering UIOs and IHS
  • AI/AN Urban Environmental Health Initiative
  • Elder AI/AN Urban Health Improvement Initiative
Please consider donating at least $10 per month to be an integral part of NCUIH's life-changing work (less than 2 drinks at Starbucks to protect the future of urban Indian health!).

Thank you for your continued support and partnership! Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,
Francys Crevier

  • The National Council of Urban Indian Health is a non-partisan organization that advances the needs of Native Americans across the country.
  • The US Census reports that 78% of American Indians and Alaska Natives live in urban areas.
  • Our Native communities across the nation are in a long-term health crisis. Unfortunately, urban Natives can suffer due to isolation from Tribal lands and cultural identity, lack of adequate mental health care, substance misuse, and poverty.
  • We represent the 41 Urban Indian Organizations funded by IHS that are working to address these challenges every day.
