The Latest:

The LHS leadership class has organized a “Winter Works Super Drive” for the first two weeks in January.

LHS will be working with Family Works, which assists local Wallingford families and individuals at various points of need. After consulting with Family Works, they have expressed a need for the following items:
Beanies/snow caps, gloves, adult-sized socks, diapers sized 4, 5, 6, hand warmers, and blankets. Each house will collect these items from January 6-17.

Items should be new (diapers, socks, and hand warmers) or in excellent, clean, used condition (hats, gloves, blankets). Items can be dropped off in the bins in the main office or with your mentorship teacher.

Please contact Christy Neuschwander with any questions.

A Message from LHS Librarian, Claire Scott!

Is your student tired of Netflix? Are they bored of aimlessly scrolling Instagram? Getting “read”-y for a long road trip or plane ride?  Your library has you covered!

Did you know that all Lincoln students have automatic access to digital materials—e-books, downloadable audiobooks, comics, and more—through the Seattle Public Library’s LibraryLink partnership? This is in addition to their personal library card—students are already automatically signed up. Follow the link to find out more! Your student’s barcode is 990000+[student ID number] (ie, 9900009876543) and their PIN is their birth month and day (ie, 1220). Students may change their PIN at any time. Digital materials NEVER accrue fines or fees and expire when their loan period ends.

Check out this list of recommended titles from a few of the Lynx students and adults who visited the library on Friday, 12/20, or made shelf-talkers earlier this month. Have a title to add? Send Ms. Scott suggestions over the break on Instagram (@lincolnlibrarylynx) or twitter (@librarylynx), and we’ll put them up!

Have a great break – I hope it’s full of great food and great books.

Students are welcome, too, and could receive a few volunteer hours.

MEET DAN NOYES!

Q&A with Daniel Noyes:

What is your preferred name and pronouns? My preferred name is Dan, and my pronouns are he/him.

What do you do at Lincoln? 9th and 10th grade Social Studies.

At what other schools have you worked?
  • Jane Addams Middle School
  • Health Sciences and Human Services High School
  • Shorewood High School
  • Bilkent University
  • Ozel Bilkent Lisesi
  • Sunnydale Elementary
  • A few more...but that's over 15 years ago

What traditions or personal touches are you bringing to Lincoln?  This is a hard one, especially since opening Lincoln has been about creating new traditions and reinventing how we do things. But I suppose the things that don't change are the little things like how I always have coffee on hand while teaching and the bigger things like how I make a point of greeting every student every day as they come into my world. I may be challenging my teaching practices to be different, but it always comes down to the relationships that you can make with those around you.

What's your favorite memory of high school? How my teachers always forgave and accepted me despite the challenges I offered them...and how social studies was probably one of my worst subjects. Who knew?

Thank you, Dan, for sharing with us!
