Breathe Respite Training!

Who:    Youth and friends in grades 6-12 and parents who are Breathe Respite first-timers or haven't yet attended training.

What:    Receive training on how to safely and effectively give families of kids with special rights a break by hanging out with their kids for a couple hours on a Friday night.  These kids and families are amazing.

Why:     We want this to be a great experience for our guests and those who are serving.  Training prepares us to host a great experience!

   When:   Tuesday, Jan 7, 6:00 - 7:00 pm
                Wednesday, Jan 22, 6:00 - 7:00 pm
                Monday, February 3, 6:00 - 7:00 pm
Reply to Curt if you can come to training.

When is the next Breathe?  Feb 22, 5:30 - 9:00 pm

Where:  Meet and pick up in Room 161 (the meeting room outside the Great Hall at the church).

Please note:  While we encourage youth to participate in all of our service opportunities, Breathe Respite happens to be an event where we need every youth volunteer to WANT to be there to serve.  This is a voluntary thing where we have limited ability to help keep our volunteers "on task".  If you'd like your son or daughter to participate even though they are reluctant or their primary motivation is to hang out with their friends, we invite you as the parent to please sign up and serve alongside them (a cool thing to do).

We are excited to have such a great group eager to care for our neighbors!

Something to Think About...

Welcome to 2020! How did your plans go from last year?  What plans do you have for yourself for this coming year?  Some call these plans resolutions.  That's fine, but there's a lot of baggage there. Sometimes my plans met my goals.  Often they don't.  For 2019 I wanted to read just 12 books this year.  That's one a month.  I think I read like 3.  Apologies to Mrs. Miller (my high school English teacher.)  I also set out to read the Bible with commentary (notes) in a year.  I'm 89 days behind - but I'll get that one done soon.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
---Micah 6:8 (NIV)

With this school year's focus on Micah 6:8, what's God calling you to do?  Maybe it's not related to justice, mercy, and walking humbly with God.  Maybe it is.  Maybe it could be. Take a minute to talk with God about your plans this year.  Is it something clear enough that you could write it down?  Or better yet - tell someone?  Whatever it is.  Offer it up to God.  Dedicate it to God.  Our actions are how God is putting the world the way it should be.
