$7,044 to reach our goal | DONATE HERE.
January 6th, 2020

Thank you to everyone who stepped up and gave generously before December 31! Over 200 of you donated during our year-end giving campaign this year and we genuinely thank you.

Because of you, we will be able to help build leadership, literacy and critical thinking skills among over 22,000 California youth in 2020.  That's a big deal!

If you didn't donate before the new year, we can still use your help to close the gap!  We have $7,044 to go to meet our total fundraising goal, and we're asking for your support to get there.

Still looking for a reason to give?  Here are 21 that motivate us in this important work every day:

California Poets in the Schools artist-in-residency workshops:
  1. Reach over 22,000 California youth each year
  2. build literacy from the inside out through direct engagement in the creative process
  3. help youth discover their unique voices and begin to use these voices for good
  4. counter alienation
  5. boost critical thinking skills
  6. build leadership skills
  7. heighten civic engagement
  8. facilitate conversations around the most complex issues of our time
  9. encourage students to share their feelings in safe, creative spaces
  10. help educate a new generation of creative thinkers
  11. create a sense of purpose and belonging in the classroom and at school
  12. offer schools and communities a direct, trauma-informed response in the wake of catastrophe
  13. offer professional poets a meaningful pathway to give back to their local communities as Poet-Teachers
  14. foster empathy and emotional resilience
  15. help young people deeply listen to each other across barriers and boundaries
  16. help make scientific facts and complex information more accessible
  17. stimulate emotions
  18. help youth explore difficult emotions such as sadness and anger, in a healthy way
  19. build a sense of personal responsibility
  20. widen individual perception
  21. change lives
Our goal is to raise $60,000 this giving season.  We rely on your donations to ensure that our writing workshops continue to lift up the voices of young writers and let them be heard.  There are many ways to give.  You can visit our website to make an online gift, mail a check (P.O. Box 1328, Santa Rosa, CA 95402) or add a name to the 1,000 Hearts for Poetry Wall below.  Thank you for giving generously.
