Higher Dose is an infrared sauna that works by heating your body and not the air. Infrared saunas are said to stimulate the release of toxins from your body, the temperature of the sauna, ranging from 105-125 F / 37 - 47 C stimulate a fat sweat, which eliminates toxins stored in fat, as opposed to the high temperatures in a traditional sauna which encourage a water sweat. The longer the duration of your session the more beneficial the results.
At the 11 Howard location, co-founders Lauren Berlingeri and Katie Kaps have tapped into that staycation vibe converting hotel rooms to tranquil spaces that house the Clearlight Infrared Sanctuary Full Spectrum Sauna.
There’s a remote control to select lighting from the chromatherapy (a form of therapy that combines light and color to alter mood) to drift into a meditative state. There are six colors to choose from, green, yellow, blue, orange, red and violet, each evoking different reactions like energy, relaxation, and creative inspiration.
Go for 60 minutes to experience the Full Dose or a 30 minute Quick Dose which is ideal for a mid-week after-work pick-me-up. Also, two people can use the sauna once so you can share the cost with a friend.
