  • Genius idea for Welders and Railroad Rail floors
  • "repurposed" Christmas gifts
  • Sea-Doo and Can-Am discards
  • Chevy Chase...aka: Clark Griswold...needed this "repurpose"
repurposedPROJECT:  An excavation contractor recently purchased some rail that he is going to set on his shop floor and then pour concrete up to about a 1/4" from the top of the rail.  The slightly raised rail will keep the heavy tracked equipment he repairs from tearing up his concrete floor.  Brilliant!!!

Add'l Idea: "An idea for the railroad rail that was placed in the concrete floor. If you tied all the rail together with re-bar and leave a stub coming out of the floor, you can attach the ground of your welder. Then you can use the whole floor to weld and fabricate." - Larry Roser

repurposedSPOTTING: "Just saw a Nebraska tourism commercial that showed big steel water tanks 'repurposed' as rafts to float down the river. When I Googled it they call it 'tanking'. Who knew!?! Thought of repurposedMATERIALS!" - Trace

Q: Like Trace, have you seen some fun, crazy "repurposing"?  We'd love to hear about it.

What is it?  These are "blast mats" made out of used tires.  They cut the treads off the tires and string them together with steel cable to make an extremely tough and heavy mat.  The mats are laid on solid rocks they are getting ready to blast out with explosives.  The mats keep the exploding rock from dangerously shooting in all directions.

BEFORE:  "$10,000 worth of this big drainage pipe to use as backdrop for filming of an upcoming Bravo TV series.  The only alteration is the outside has been painted brown with an acrylic paint.  It will come off easy with a pressure washer. Paint chips off with ones finger nail.  We're now done with the pipes.  Can you 'repurpose' them?" - Robert

AFTER: We always brag about our customers being resourceful.  Here is one of the reasons why...no trailer, no problem!!!  Adam, we appreciate your business!

Q: Like Joe, do you have a trade association, colleagues, etc. that may have leftover products and materials that could be "repurposed"?  We, of course, appreciate referrals!

BEFORE "I love the newsletters and I’ve shared it with our Zero Waste crowd in the Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina area.  I work for a textile recycling company and get inquiries all the time about Kevlar sleeves used at a glass manufacturing company." - Liz

AFTER: "I just wanted to follow-up with you and let you know they were able to donate the Kevlar sleeves to a bird of prey wildlife sanctuary." -
