Which came first?
Eggs slow way down starting in November of each year because of shorter daylight. We find our hens live longer if we do not artificially light the coop. This break from laying allows the hens to do a couple of things: 1) rest their bodies, and 2) put energy into annual molting (changing out of feathers). Egg shares will come back again in March as the days start to lengthen.
Want to know more? Come too our Poultry 101 class which will cover the raising and maintenance of laying hens and meat birds (chickens and turkeys). Class will be held from 8:00am - 11:00am.
Register for class: Wed Feb 12 Sat Feb 15
