The Ed-Psych Assessment Series
Part 2: Understanding and Getting the Most out of Your Report
Are you considering a psycho-education evaluation or have you already done one?  Are you wondering what happens after you receive that thick report?  Join our panel discussion to explore how to interpret the report scoring and conclusions, what to share with your school, and how to make the most effective use of the findings.

This round-table will be highly interactive and will offer sample psycho-educational and ILP reports and the perspectives of both medical and educational professionals.  Discussion points will include:
  • What should I expect to see in a well done psycho-educational report?
  • How do I interpret the results - Scaled scores, T-Scores, Composite scores, Percentiles - what do all the numbers mean (and which one do I need to look at)?
  • What do I do with the report?
  • How do I help my child receive the right support?
  • What is an ILP (independent learning plan) and how should it be used?
This Roundtable is appropriate for parents of school children and adolescents, and educators.

Promoting Resilience: Raising Self Sufficient Children (Webinar)
with Janine Domingues, PhD, Child Mind Institute, USA
Tuesday, March 10, 2020 (time: tbc)
Many of us with learning or attentional differences feel the start of the year, the month or even the day is a chance for a fresh start and we set new goals for ourselves thinking, “this time it will be different,” only to be disappointed in ourselves when we fail to meet our own expectations or those of others.   In reality is most people fail to keep their New Years' resolutions but for a person struggling with executive function issues the feeling of failure can be a daily issue.   In this helpful video from “How to ADHD,” founder Jessica McCabe explains by "Why Routines Are More Helpful Than New Year’s Resolutions.”   https://youtu.be/HJlBq1ldcCc
Survey of Medical and Mental Health Professional Services
Share Your Experience!
We receive calls every week from parents and teachers asking for referrals to qualified professionals for educational evaluations, mental health support or management of medications.  Often parents don’t want to explore this topic publicly and find it very stressful and confusing to identify the qualified support resources they need.

We want to do more to help parents seeking to support a child, or themselves with learning or attentional issues by pooling our collective experiences and helping to identify qualified medical and mental health practitioners.  If you have used the services of a medical or mental health professional within the past three years, please take three minutes to respond to our questionnaire.

All individual responses will be kept confidential. Survey results will not be shared publicly but anyone seeking a referral may contact FOCUS and benefit from our collective efforts.

We encourage you to share this survey link to others you may know who have sought the help of medical or mental health professionals to support a child, adolescent or adult with main stream learning differences and related mental health issues.
