My foodie trip in Piedmont: truffles, wine, cheese and much more!

With the excuse to visit the famous International Truffle Fair, which takes place every year in fall in Alba, I visited the region of Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, in Piedmont, a truly foodie experience of top level. 

First I stayed in the historical Villa Beccaris: set in a lovingly restored 18th century villa, once the property of General Beccaris. This luxury boutique hotel is a short walk from the centre of this beautiful hilltop village. It stands in a spectacular shady garden, which features a large gazebo and a swimming pool Hotel Villa Beccaris has 23 spacious and comfortable rooms and suites, all decorated in a style befitting this splendid property. The rooms feature antique furniture, have en-suite bathrooms and are equipped with all modern amenities,

My second choice has been Villa Fontana, an ultra chic villa with 6 lovely rooms in one of the houses and a second house just finished with 6 more rooms. A very beautiful spa and wellness area and as well two outdoor pools. Seat and enjoy the views.

ILTM Cannes: Year of Conscious Luxury 

Once again I had the privilege to witness the most important luxury travel show of the year: ILTM Cannes. For my 9th year! 
It started with the Global Forum which was introduced by ILTM’s Portfolio Director Alison Gilmore. We heard economist Dr Kjell Nordström saying we could be at the start of the most-speedy business transformation since the mid-19th century. Wunderman Thompson global Chairman Tamara Ingram OBE explained today’s eco-conscious consumers want ethics, responsibility – and innovation. Dr Richard Carmona, US Surgeon General and chief of health innovation at Canyon Ranch, shared the connection between wellness and conscious awareness.

And of course the media, we had our own agenda with non stop press presentations, events and the practical round tables where we met unique properties.

IBTM World: the world of MICE gathered in Barcelona

The figures of IBTM World 2019:
- over 74,000 pre-scheduled business meetings having taken place
- 3% increase in the number of visitors attending the three-day event compared with 2018.
- 62% of Hosted Buyers participated in IBTM World for the first time this year and 51% of them were completely new to the entire IBTM portfolio
- Over 2,600 exhibitors from 150 countries attended, including over double the number of first-time exhibitors compared to 2018
- 450% increase in net space for exhibitors from China

I had the huge pleasure to get to know and define some new players in the MICE industry like Rwanda, Wales, Luxembourg and always in my top MICE destinations: Thailand and Singapore.
