Hello 2020!
January 2020 Newsletter

Happy 2020 Everyone! I hope that this year bring you all much love, kindness and happiness. If you think about it, that's all that really matters.

I am looking forward to all the great events coming up this year. It seems that there were a few years there where people seem to be taking a break but are now rested and rejuvenated to start again with new ideas for the new decade. Some clubs are partnering with other clubs and promoters to offer luncheons, programs, displays and/or gatherings in cooperation with shows making them more of an event. Sounds like a lot of fun to me! I have been helping many clubs and promoters with Facebook and we are seeing great results. It's just a matter of getting the ball rolling and before you know it, it's building up a network.

On that note ~ I will be adding a list of Facebook pages and groups to the links page of the website. If you have a page and I don't have it listed, just let me know and will be happy to add it. If you are a Facebook member, please kindly like/follow/share (or join) the pages listed there to help keep the ball rolling.

After all, I have always said that the best way to keep the shows and events going is to support each other and Together we will Thrive!

Wishing Upon the Stars: Dolls inspired by Disney
By Rhoda Seidenberg, Photos by D.M. Seidenberg
Sometimes movie stars are not people. Often,
we are star stricken by animated characters,
particularly those made by Walt Disney.
As children, we were entertained by Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Cinderella
to name a few. The original tales were bleak,
bordering on horror. The Disney versions are
sanitized and pleasant. Moments of danger lead
to a “happily ever after” ending. Each of these
stories has a special meaning for us that goes
beyond their fairy tale setting. The dolls and toys
made in their image allowed their stories to be
told over again in the realm of childhood. Continue…

The Many Faces of Gebrüder Heubach

Posted October 22, 2019 in Dolls
by Ruby Lane
The character dolls of Gebrüder Heubach were sculpted in a wide range of styles. This style with its molded bonnet is called Baby Stuart by collectors.

The firm of Gebrüder Heubach made some of the most interesting and recognizable character dolls of the early 20th century. The almost endless diversity of molds produced by this company is even more amazing when we consider that the firm did not start making dolls until 1907. Although they were competing with the character dolls made by other long-established doll companies, their own history in the porcelain industry placed them in a good position to supply skillfully made, artistically sculpted character dolls at affordable price points. Read more »
