Dear RGHS Parents and learners

Welcome to not only a new academic year but to a new decade.  I trust that 2020 will bring you and your families much joy and growth.

We as a school are very proud of our 2019 Grade 12 learners.  Their excellent performance resulted in every single one of them achieving their Bachelor's Pass – 100% Bachelor’s Pass for 2019! I’m sure by now you would also have read that our school was awarded second place overall in the province.  Congratulations to Westerford who took first place.  We also congratulate three of our learners who placed in the top 20 overall achievers: Justine Verwey (5th in province), Jamie Fraser (Top 20) and Katie Watt (Top 20). Thank you to all the staff at Rustenburg Girls’ High for their continued support and guidance of the class of 2019.  Credit also goes to over 50 primary schools who helped lay the foundations for our 166 Matrics with their 614 distinctions.

We are excited to introduce our new staff members. In the Mathematics Department, we welcome Ms Megan Bell and Ms Sindisiwe Herbert, and also our part-time teacher, Ms Veronique Ravat. Past pupil Ms Saeeda Bassardien has joined our Physics Department, and Ms Beth Brown is our new Music Administrator.

We hope to see many of you at this evening’s picnic as this is an informal opportunity for parents and staff to meet one another and put names to faces.  There are also separate parent information evenings for each grade over the next few weeks; we look forward to seeing you there.  These are important evenings for you to connect with your daughter’s form teacher and to hear important information pertinent to her specific grade.

I look forward to an exciting year filled with new things.

Michael Gates
