City lifesavers to the rescue!

Hi members, thought you like to know that the club will be receiving assistance from some city clubs over the next couple of weeks to boost our patrol numbers. A select group of patrollers will be joining us to help in our time of need as it’s been fairly hectic these last couple of weeks due to the recent bushfires and road closures etc.
So if you can’t make your rostered patrols over the next 2 weeks don’t be too concerned!
I would also like to say thanks to all our members who helped in various ways during the recent crisis that we just lived through- helping keep evacuated people calm and housed at the club etc . Of course I wouldn’t expect anything less!
See you on the beach

Australia Day
Breakfast on the Beach & Nippers

What better way to celebrate Australia Day, enjoying a typical Oz-style brekky overlooking the beach at beautiful Narooma. The annual BBQ breakfast put on by Narooma SLSC kindly assisted by the Narooma Lions Club is on again from 8am til 10am in the carpark below the clubhouse.

The brekky always draws a crowd and is a great way to get you in the spirit of Australia Day. The breakfast includes a tea or coffee, sausages, bacon, eggs and toast, topped with your choice of ‘dead horse’ - tomato or BBQ!

Helpers for the Aus Day Breakfast are needed at 6:30am to set up the event. The car park in front of the club will be closed off to cars, boats will be taken out of the shed, tables and chairs will be brought down, as will the BBQ and food. Anyone available, please let Whitey 0407 762 069 or Jon 0419 642 512 know you’ll be there to lend a hand.

This year, Australia Day falls on a Sunday so our Nippers session will be a great backdrop for the breakfast attendees.

Nippers starts at 9am as per usual, so perhaps get in early for an 8am breakfast and prepare for a funfilled Aussie themed morning. Don't be afraid to slap on some green or gold zinc or dress up in oz theme!

Narooma Double Branch Carnival Weekend

Saturday 8th February to Sunday 9th February.

We are to host a double carnival on our own Narooma Main beach! Seniors compete on Saturday with our Juniors hitting the sand early on Sunday. Come along and support the club as a competitor, spectator, life saver, cook, cleaner, age manager, whatever - it's all hands on deck, let's make it great!

SATURDAY SIPPERS FIRIES FUNDRAISER

The club will open it's doors on Saturday night from 5:30pm encouraging everyone to come along for a Sippers night. The Surfbeach Cafe Narooma will be open serving Fish and Chips, with the clubhouse bar open for beverages and snacks. Live music. We intend to run a raffle with the club donating half of the proceeds from the night to the local RFS. All welcome.

**HELP WANTED**

The Narooma-Double-Branch-Carnival is almost here! It’s a big event to organise so everyone’s assistance is vital. You don’t have to be a competitor or belong to a Nipper family to help out – this is a whole club event! Look down the list of jobs and contact the relevant Team Leader to let them know they’ve got help coming. You know the old saying, many hands make light work!

BEACH SETUP WORK PARTY

Beach Setup Work Party - Team Leader Brendan Constable on 0438 292 022
We need a group of people able to drive the buggy, rake the beach, setup tents, drive stakes into the sand and rope off areas. IRB drivers to set up cans/buoys.
• Saturday morning from 7am
• Sunday morning from 6am
Needless to say we will need volunteers to assist with packing up as well!

BARBEQUE WORK PARTY

Barbeque Work Party – Team Leader Glenn Bywater phone 0421 209 710.
We need a crew of people able to cook, serve and clean up for the barbeque. Hopefully we get LOTS AND LOTS of volunteers so we can set up hourly shifts. Also looking for any mums who are able to make a coleslaw salad at home and bring it in.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON/NIGHT WORK PARTY

Saturday Sippers - Team Leader Glenn Bywater phone 0421 209 710 Bar open, an easy meal available downstairs for clubbies who are camping for the night. We will be also raising funds for the RFS. People required to setup the tables and chairs and to cleanup afterwards. People to help sell raffle tickets. Also, we will need our RSA members that are available to assist in the bar.

BRONZE AND SRC MEMBERS

Why not have a bit of fun and compete at the senior carnival on Saturday? Check out the program when it comes out, there are plenty of water and beach activities to choose from! You don’t need to be a NutriGrain sponsored athlete to have a go!

On Sunday we will need to supply at least 5 water safety members, please advise Club Captain Troy Beecham 0437 370 859 if you can assist. The more people we have the less time (and the less wrinkly) our members will get. It will also give those parents that have kids competing, able to watch some of their events. An IRB Driver and Crewperson would also be helpful.

AGE MANAGERS AND HELPERS

Age Managers, it’s going to be a crazy day! We can assume that many of our Nippers will attend the carnival because it is at home, many will not have been to a carnival before. It would be ideal if we had two age managers per age group, one for the males and the other for the females as sometimes their events are separated. It is not your job to babysit all day but to organise relay teams, encourage good sportmanship and lead the way to the next event! If there are any Age Managers that will NOT be attending, can you please advise Nippers Coordinator Carla Durnan 0439 870 996.

OFFICIALS

We will also need any available officials to assist on the day. If you haven’t done the official course but would like to lend a hand by recording results or helping with the placing on the sprint track, please advise Carla Durnan 0439 870 996.

………………………………………………………………………………

Now if you cannot commit to one of the above work parties, please don’t be a stranger on the day. If you see a bin that needs to be emptied or boards that need to be hosed off, an empty toilet roll or someone on the BBQ that needs a break, please lend a hand. That’s what being in a community organisation such as ours is all about! It feels good and it’s great fun being involved!
