Trees Atlanta Monthly News Updates

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Since 1994, Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK Day) has been recognized as a National Day of Service to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King. As a leader in civil rights activism, Dr. King proudly stood for strengthened communities and a better life for all.

To honor Dr. King this Monday, 600 volunteers will be braving the chilly weather and showing their dedication to the Atlanta community by planting trees with us. Be on the lookout for these amazing volunteers and 550 new trees in our city!

A Meadow in Winter Holds the Key to Abundant Life

If you've taken a stroll along the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum recently, you've probably noticed a lot of brown hues within the landscape. But as one of our Arboretum crew members explains in a new blog post, the meadow spaces in the Arboretum are filled with life and beauty!

Check out this great new blog post from Kelly Coles by clicking the button below. It will certainly open your eyes to the wonders of these preserved spaces. If you'd like to learn more about winter plant characteristics within the Arboretum, register for our upcoming workshop on January 31.

Join Us in for Series of Conversations on Local Climate Change and the Power of Urban Forests

Trees are a known critical resource for both humans and wildlife, but did you know that we can leverage the power of trees to help tackle climate change locally and globally?

Starting next Thursday, Dr. Marshall Shepherd (a renowned climate scientist) will be kicking off our series of climate change conversations. In his presentation, Dr. Shepherd will blend humor and science to uncover the challenges of communicating climate change with the public and stakeholders. Dr. Shepherd is quite a comedian, so we highly recommend bringing a friend along to laugh with!
