WESSON EARNS KEY ENDORSEMENT FROM STONEWALL YOUNG DEMOCRATS
Stonewall Young Dems Join Growing List of Democratic Leaders & Grassroots Organizations to Support Wesson’s Campaign for LA County Supervisor
Los Angeles, CA – Following a game-changing endorsement from the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) in December, today, LA City Council President Emeritus Herb Wesson secured an endorsement from the Stonewall Young Democrats, a progressive group that represents and mobilizes LGBTQIA youth within the Democratic Party. Wesson is running to replace termed-out Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas in District 2, an overwhelmingly Democratic district that encompasses large swaths of South Los Angeles. Wesson’s campaign enjoys widespread support from over 60 elected officials, including LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and more than 100 local labor unions.

Stonewall Young Democrats President Nikhil Bowen released the following statement of support:

“The Stonewall Young Democrats are proud to endorse Herb Wesson for LA County Supervisor. As City Council President, he worked to address the homelessness and housing affordability crisis, an issue that greatly impacts the LGBTQIA community and particularly communities of color. Herb has always been a strong ally and I know he will continue to fight for ALL Angelenos as our next Supervisor. ”
During his tenure as Council President, Wesson has presided over monumental policy initiatives that have made Los Angeles a better place to live, work and raise a family. These initiatives — which include raising the minimum wage, expanding protections for working Angelenos, and consolidating city elections to increase voter turnout — have not only positively impacted local residents, but in many cases, sparked legislative responses at both the state and national level.

While real progress has been made in the last decade, Herb Wesson knows that there’s still more work to be done. That’s why he’s running for Los Angeles County Supervisor: to empower people and make a difference in the lives of local residents.

Herb Wesson currently lives in Los Angeles and is happily married to Fabian Wesson. They have four sons: Douglas, P.J. Herb III, and Justin Wesson.
