This Sunday will be a full fledged winter work day and we will be out on the ice if it stays cold enough. If you have never been out standing in the middle of the slough or the lake looking back at the shoreline let me tell you, it's a real different perspective on things. Please join us for a great morning of winter fun and restoration. We have two plans just in case it gets too warm. Plan A: If the ice is still safe, we will be starting on the far north finger of the Slough and working our way south down the Hillside shoreline cutting invasives. From there we will be cutting cattails from around the power line in anticipation of the spring prescribed burn. Plan B: Going after the inland invasives from around 102 Hillside west to around 7 Hillside if the ice is too frail.
The NRC will have gloves, hand and toe warmers available and a Kielbasa roast will take place at the end of the day. Please dress appropriately for the conditions.
The decision for plan A or plan B will be made on the morning of so you just need to drive on Hillside to see where the cars are parked to know where we are. A= Hillside and Willow. B=102 Hillside.
