Weekly Bulletin

Dear friends,

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 9.15am at Clowne and 11am at Barlborough.

Some people enjoyed the poem I shared last week so here is another for this week to ponder:

The Bright Field

I have seen the sun break through
to illuminate a small field
for a while, and gone my way
and forgotten it. But that was the pearl
of great price, the one field that had
treasure in it. I realize now
that I must give all that I have
to possess it. Life is not hurrying
on to a receding future, nor hankering after
an imagined past. It is the turning
aside like Moses to the miracle
of the lit bush, to a brightness
that seemed as transitory as your youth
once, but is the eternity that awaits you.

~ R. S. Thomas ~

See you soon,

Bryony

Prayer for the week (Collect)

Eternal Lord,

Notices and Announcements

Finding Faith Course—to run in Lent
We are running a 5 week course in Lent all about what Christians believe. This is open to anyone interested in learning a bit more about the faith, there will be the opportunity to be confirmed (if you wish) at the end of the course. A simple course that uses film and discussion to help us explore together. If you are interested, please speak to Rev’d Bryony.
For more established Christians, there will be a Pilgrim course run during Lent by Veronica Blackwell.

Safe Space Clowne
Our Mental Health Support group continues to meet every Tuesday at 2pm at Clowne Church. New visitors are always welcome, it’s a place to gather with others, have a cup of tea and a chat in a friendly environment.
New rotas are available now for volunteers and there will be a volunteers meeting on Tuesday 21st January at 4pm. Please attend if you are a current volunteer. You are also welcome to attend this meeting if you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer.

Year’s Mind
We are starting a new system for Year’s Mind records this year. There is a diary available in each church into which you are welcome to add the names of your loved ones who have died. Names in this diary will then be put on the bulletin on the relevant week. This is separate to any official book of remembrance and will enable us to ensure that the names read out on Sundays in the intercessions are known and loved to our congregation. If you have any queries about this please speak to me!

Thanks, Rev’d Bryony.
