Looking forward to seeing everyone down at the members family movie night to see The Princess Bride! I’m a big fan of this film and am looking forward to Jan’s delicious nachos for dinner! Grab a friend and pack the bean bags… it’s always a fun night!

Smith Thornton Swim
We are looking forward to big numbers for the annual Smith Thornton Swim this Sunday. You couldn’t get a more friendly event to get amongst it.. so we hope to see you there. All the details are in this week’s RIP and on Facebook. Big thanks to our Principal sponsors, Smith Thornton Accountants. This local business have been incredible supporters of the club for so many year and we love that their team get involved in this event. Remember to support the business that support our club!

Get In The Game - Bendigo Bank Raffle
As you may all be aware by now, as part of a community funding initiative, the Albany Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank have launched the 2019/20 Albany Community Sporting Raffle "Get in the Game Sport & Rec Giveaway". 20 Local sporting clubs and associations have nominated to participate and sell raffle tickets for their club with sporting clubs receiving 100% of their club's individual ticket sales for the raffle. This initiate aims to inject $125,000 into the participating clubs and associations... how good is that!

With less than 20% of the club’s income derived from membership fees, fundraising is essential part of what we do to not only support our operations and but assist us to grow and develop as a club that provides a unique experience that combines sport, community service and leadership.

The Albany SLSC have committed to raising $15,000 of much needed funds through this initiative. With club membership now at record numbers, we need your help to raise $15,000 for the club...can you or a family member assist? At this stage we still have around $3500 worth of ticks unsold. This is a great opportunity for the club and we are now calling on ALL members to support this initiative. With only a couple of weeks to go we are hoping for clubbies across the club to get on board. Big thanks to those who have already been busy selling tickets. We do have some nipper groups and families doing an amazing job but we need more help. You can find all the details later in the RIP or please feel free to come and chat to me THIS Sunday about how you may be able to assist.

2020  .... Albany SLS club is taking simple steps towards sustainability and we need your help.

Some simple steps we will be taking here at the club include:

Introducing recycling bins for bottles, cans, card and paper.

We encourage you to bring your own reusuable coffee cup

Composting bin for waste food on Sundays and functions.

Please note: there are 3 recycle bins, one will be located in the bar area and one outside the canteen on Sundays. They have yellow lids and are labelled with a recycling sticker. The bottles and cans MUST be empty before putting in  bins. Please completely fill one bin before the next one is filled, as the club pays Cleanaway per bin to empty. Encourage your fellow clubbies to do the right thing.

If any one is interested in taking home the waste food for compost on Sundays please contact  Corinne 0428376527

There are also plans to arrange a beach clean up in the New Year.

Club also hopes to sell 'keep cups'  in club colours for those that don't already own a keep cup.

Thank in advance for getting 'on board' with looking after the future of our amazing Albany and beyond!

Please contact Corinne with feedback about the new plans and/or any other issues around  sustainability
