Excited that a Subway is coming to Pearl St. Also, a good time for me to re-argue that: some fast-casual, affordable, yet healthy, food options (though not local & probably corporate) in our walkable downtown area is better than not having another < $6 meal option. #BTV #vtpoli https://t.co/OQQZlSWOCk

Dave's Corner 💭
At the community police academy last night, we had a talk on domestic violence. Did you know that domestic violence is one of the top areas of crime reported to the police in Burlington? It's something very serious that people don't want to talk about. One of the difficulties is that bail-reform has led to most perpetrators being released just a few hours after their arrest. This allows them to get back to abusing their victims. Often we do reforms with the right intentions, but the wrong data to back up their efficacy.

- Traffic Signal Problems
Recently the stop light switch at this location was converted to a warning signal for vehicles that someone was crossing the street. It has led to several close calls as the people using this crosswalk are some of our cities most venerable citizens due to health issues. This needs to be corrected and is another black eye on the management of our streets by the Mayor and DPW director.I comment on this not as a resident of the area but one who travels through the area and have noticed the issue. Let us just restore it to the old stop signal and get it over with and not delay the issue like the Mayor and DP director did with the horrible engineering disaster at the corner of Maple and St. Paul. There attention to that situation was delayed, arrogant and totally ignorant to the situation.

Air pollution. Dropping off my child at school this morning I noticed black smoke spewing from this chimney. It’s very thick smoke and must be something wrong — either illegal discharge or malfunction causing pollution. Please look into this. I have better photos of the chimney/smoke but this one shows the building sign so you’ll know where to go.
