Rally for Heroes 2020

THE FINAL RUN

We may now be in the Chinese Year of the Rat,
but to everyone here we are in the

Year of the Rally!

We have some amazing events lined up over the next few months including: the SSAFA Spinnaker Supercars event, with 45 brave (or crazy!) people abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower; Wiltshire Armed Forces Day celebrations and the event at RAF Marham, all of which you can read about below!

Congratulations to you all;
we have now reached £54.7K of our £100K minimum target!

Keep up the good work!

Whilst we are doing well, many people have yet to start their fundraising in earnest. Our advice is not to leave it too late. We do advise getting in touch with your regional SSAFA Branch Publicity Officer. If you need some help, please get in touch and we can discuss ideas with you, no problem.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Mark and Melissa

The BIG Event!

This is the pre-launch event being held at RAF MARHAM.

This will be a full Air Day held at the base as part of their families day on 23rd of July in which we are playing a major part. There will be a huge crowd with an expected footfall of 10,000.

We are currently negotiating a deal with a hotel in Knightshill in Kings Lynn for Bed and Breakfast on the 22nd, followed by accommodation and a Black Tie Ball on the evening of the 23rd. So it will be package of 2 nights accommodation and a mega party! The cost for couples should be £114 for bed and breakfast on the 21st and £154 for accommodation, 3 course dinner and ball on the 22nd.

There will be limited opportunity to have evening light painting shots with an F35 and more opportunities for a day shot. We will be taking an overhead shot with the cars lined up in a F35 pattern too! There will be runway dashes in front of an adoring crowd and we will be doing miles for smiles all day.

We will then retire to our hotel to relax and party the night away whilst bonding as a group before Rally launch day on 5th of August!
So please book the time off! We need full attendance to make this work! Standby for a JOT Form with details on the package.

The AA

We are delighted to report that the AA will be
accompanying us once again on this year's Rally!

We are the only event of this nature that they still officially support.
We have just got a couple of things to sort out concerning cover on the Rally, European Breakdown Cover and the Emergency Packs.
We will soon send out a JotForm to sign up for the cover which will be offered to you for a small charge in return for huge peace of mind, I am sure you will agree.

Rally for Heroes Shop

We now have our ONLINE SHOP up and running on our website. This is the first time we have created an online store and I'm sure there will be some things we have missed so please bear with us whilst we get everything up to scratch.

Do check it out and see the new, trendy range of Rally for Heroes clothing now available!

There is a wide range of items to choose from, from long and short-sleeved shirts to hoodies and jackets! There are also caps and hats on offer!

For those of you wishing to purchase extra white polos (as per issue) these are also available.

As it stands, orders will still be confirmed by our suppliers directly with you, where they will also confirm the total cost including shipping (the shop only shows free shipping, this is incorrect but we haven't found a way of adjusting this yet, apologies for this).

Please may we ask that any orders put in initially are done so with your patient pills as you will be our site testers whilst we check everything works.

All that remains to say, is good luck and hopefully it all works!

ATTENTION ABSEILERS!

Abseilers .... please organise your donations for the abseil onto the Just Giving page that has been set up to receive them. If you are doing the Rally, Jim Morrison will allocate it to you from this page.

We would like to see those donations rolling in!

There are less than three months to go!

Please make sure your name is mentioned in the comments section. You can find the correct Just Giving page by clicking on the link below:

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/spinnakersupercars

Not signed up for the abseil but would like to?

If you have not registered to abseil but think you may like to, there are limited spaces available. To register, please follow the instructions below:

Everyone receiving this newsletter is already a Rally for Heroes 2020 entrant so you do not need to register on the SSAFA website as you have already done this.

To complete your registration, please pay your £105 fee to:

Account Name: SSAFA
A/C No: 05321808
Sort Code: 18-00-02
Reference: Abseil[surname]

THIS ACCOUNT IS ONLY FOR THE COST OF THE ABSEIL ITSELF.
IT IS NOT FOR ANY SPONSORSHIP MONEY FOR THE ABSEIL.

The reference is very important as it will help allocate each registration to the right person.

Each person needs to pay £105, which you can reimburse yourself once you have raised the minimum amount of £375 per abseil if you wish, although last time most people thought the experience was worth the money it had cost them to do it and allowed that extra money to go to SSAFA.

The Just Giving page is live. Please point all of your supporters in this direction to make a donation and if you are completing the abseil please use this page as your main fundraising page.

Please ensure you make your supporters aware that they need to state your name in the comments so we can allocate their donation to you, this will ensure we have a track of your donations enabling you to reach your target.

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/spinnakersupercars

Jim Morrison will, after the event, allocate your abseil money to the appropriate
Rally for Heroes account. Please do not put it direct onto your Rally for Heroes fundraising page. It is easier to track the money for this event if it is all together.

Please can you make payment as soon as possible as your abseil space is not secure until you do so.

You need to be over 18 and in good health. Once the payment has been made, it is non refundable as this will have been paid to the abseil team who will be doing this for us on the day. No profit is made from the abseil cost as it costs us £105 for each person to do it.

SuperCars at SuperCams
Easter Monday

We are pleased to announce we will be returning to this fantastic venue for another Miles for Smiles fundraising day. Please email Mike if you are interested!

Kent Miles for Smiles
Sunday 26th April

Some of you have already signed up for what should be an amazing event over the St.George's Day weekend!

We are in negotiations for an event comprising of static display and ‘Miles for Smiles’ passenger rides. The plans for the static display comprises of our RFH cars plus small military vehicles and general Classic Cars and Motorbikes. In addition we would need enough cars who’s owners are willing to partake in ‘Miles for Smiles’.

There’s less than two months before the event date so we need to move fast to collate number for ‘Miles for Smiles’ at the very least, to make it feasible. Please email Mark if you are able to attend, what car you could bring and whether it will be for static display or ‘Miles for Smiles’. Thanks!
Commemorative Coin

One of our veteran rallyists, Ian Kirk, is having some commemorative coins made to mark Rally for Heroes The Final Run.

What better souvenir could you have to remember this momentous occasion?

These coins display the Final Run gold logo on one side and map detailing each of the locations visited in the other side. These coins cost only £25 each, with every penny over the manufacturing costs going straight to SSAFA! They will be available to collect at the start of the rally.

Ian needs to have a minimum order before he can have these coins made, so if you are interested, please email him to let him know!

Coming soon...

We are pleased to announce that Think BIG Tech are producing a phone app for
Rally for Heroes 2020 The Final Run!

This will be available for all entrants to access and will include valuable information on the event as well as links to your newsletters, teams and the all new Rally shop where you'll be able to purchase the latest Rally clothing range created in conjunction with Deranged!

Next of Kin

Thank you to everyone who has completed their jotforms. We would like to reassure you that the gathering and storage of the data collected is kept secure and complies with GDPR.

We still have many entrants who have named their driver, co-driver, or another entrant, as their Next of Kin. Please may we ask that you do NOT name anyone else participating on the Rally as your Next of Kin. If you have done this, please contact Melissa with an alternative, who will update your information. We need to gather this information so, in the unlikely event of an emergency, we know who to contact.
If you have done this already, Thank you.
Final Payment for the 2020 Rally

Just as a reminder, as per the terms and conditions, the full and final payment for the Final Run is required by April 2020.  We will be paying our Tour Operator on April 30th, if your payment has not cleared into our accounts by the 29th, your booking will be cancelled.  This may sound harsh, but we have been burnt far too many times in the past, so we must have the final deadline of 29th, no ifs or buts we're afraid!
You can pay anytime from now until then
Please make payment via bank transfer to:

RFH Events Ltd
Sort Code 30-98-34

Account Number 66016560

Please use your surname and initials as the reference

Full amount payable is £2995 per car with two people, so deducting your £500 deposits you've already paid, that leaves £2495.

Should you require a VAT invoice, please drop Mick a line and he'll get one run up for you.
