-- Music, Dance & Spirituality --

We dedicate this VALENTINE’S HEARTBEAT DANCE to love. “Love” consists of far more than romance. As we know from the word ‘aloha’ we can celebrate the heart’s noble feelings of compassion, happiness, joy, inner truth, romantic love, and - above all - universal love. 7:15-9 pm with EVA ALEWA GEUEKE on Friday, February 7.

Many people adored last year’s weekend with BHAGAVAN DAS, who is returning with his beloved, Amulya Maa, for a VALENTINE’S BHAKTI YOGA WEEKEND, February 14-16. On Friday at 7:30-9 pm, they’ll give a Spiritual Discourse with Chanting and Meditation. On Saturday, also 7:30-9:30 pm they do an Ecstatic Devotional Kirtan. On Sunday, 1:30-4:30 pm, you’ll get Nada Yoga: a Sound Journey. Three days of music and devotion to enliven the soul! One of the great spiritual music icons of the 1960’s, Bhagavan Das journeyed to India before the Beatles did, and he continues to share what he has learned.

Step out of those old “I can’t” stories you tell yourself. Shine your light in a fun, upbeat, empowering SING/DANCE/SHINE PLAYSHOP on Saturday, February 29, 3:30 - 5:30 pm! Your inspiring leader, the amazing FAITH RIVERA is an Emmy-winning Singer/ Songwriter. In this “musical firewalk” you experience more freedom and confidence you’ve ever had before. On March 14, you get to perform with Faith at our Birthday Celebration!

Local yogini and musician ZENY OGRISSEG beautifully weaves ancient mantras, Tibetan singing bowls and the harp into a sacred self-care SOUND SANCTUARY. Fridays, February 21, March 6 and April 24 at 7 pm, and Tuesday March 31 at 2 pm, translated into Japanese! Zeny's inspired music, angelic voice, and yoga nidra takes you to a tranquil, still place of awareness, nurturing your Spirit.

Mark your calendar! STILL & MOVING CENTER’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION on Saturday, March 14, 5:30-7pm with RENEE TILLOTSON will spill across the mango wood dance floor and up into the aerial points! Enjoy community, bodies in motion and birthday cake! With live music by FAITH RIVERA, superb contemporary dance by EDDIE OROYAN and JESSICA ENES, and an introduction to Aerial Pilates by WAINANI ARNOLD, prepare to be dazzled!

Did you realize you can prevent and relieve back pain with a functional, powerful pelvic floor? Get all of your stomach muscles to work together smoothly to strengthen your core and release tension in your back. At the NO MORE BACK PAIN workshops on January 25, 1:30 - 5 pm and January 26, 4:30 - 7:30 pm with EVA GEUEKE you will do just that through Feldenkrais.

With sound, breath, and fluid, free, wave-like motion, you can truly meet yourself in a loving way in the WAVE CONTINUUM DIVE with EVA ALEWA GEUEKE, January 31, 7:15 - 9:30 pm. Deep authentic healing happens as this practice evokes ancient wisdom in our fluid system and cells and brings it to the surface of our consciousness. Learn to listen for the authentic enfoldment of movement, the wisdom of your body.

Tap into the PROFOUND HEALING POWER OF SUBTLE MOVEMENT & ROLLING at the Feldenkrais weekend February 8-9. On Saturday, 3-6:30 pm, EVA GEUEKE invites us to cultivate small, peaceful movement that replenishes us, enhancing our neuroplasticity. Through subtle movement we experience ‘Aha!’ moments about ourselves and life. On Sunday, 4:30-7:30 pm, we re-activate our powerful coordination through gentle, mindful rolling. All of us need to be able to easily roll, as we did as babies - minimally to get in and out of bed and our cars. You won’t believe how much better you will feel by the end of this weekend!

Our LOMILOMI MASSAGE TRAINING, SPRING INTENSIVE focuses on the 4 “Corners of the Body”: the shoulders and hips, enclosing all of the bodyʻs vital organ. Your trainer, MALIA HELELA, weaves in deeper work for these large “corner” joints. You can look forward to giving and receiving massage in every session! Thursday to Saturday, March 5 - 7, 2020, this 16-hour training is in both English and Japanese.

If you feel called to help relieve the suffering of complex trauma, consider attending this 20-HOUR TRAUMA TRAINING March 20-22, 2020 with visiting trainer JODY HASSEL. This 20-hour training teaches trauma-sensitive movement using hatha yoga and breath practices for the healing process of complex trauma. Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) addresses chronic, treatment-resistant Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

FOREST BATHING or "forest therapy" is growing as a trend worldwide. Enjoy a gentle walk, and reconnect yourself with your senses and the natural world with PHYLLIS LOOK of Forest Bathing Hawaii. At Lyon Arboretum, 3860 Manoa Road, Saturdays, January 18 and again February 8, from 9 am to 12 noon. Unlike a hike, there is no destination and, unlike a naturalist walk, you'll gain knowledge through your senses - calmed and alert.

Do something substantive to address our ecological crisis: ECO-SATTVA TRAINING: “Together at an Edge” with sustainability leaders KRISTA HISER and LIZABETH KASHINSKY. It’s 6 Training Sessions on Mondays, 7-8:15 pm (January 13 and 27, February 3 and 17, March 2 and 16). We gather locally and with others around the world for this unique online course at the intersection of mindfulness, Buddhist practice and environmentalism. It’s not too late to get involved with this vibrant, committed group.


-- Deepening Your Hawaiian Connection --

This single day PUANA LOMILOMI CULTURAL IMMERSION & SELF HEALING takes place February 10, 12-2 pm. Kumu MALIA HELELA’s Puana approach to lomilomi bodywork focuses on settling the nervous system and integrating all parts of the body. Drawing on lessons from hula and lei making, students weave lomilomi massage techniques into a tailored treatment that addresses body, mind and spirit.

If you have ever dreamed of bathing in a mountain pool under a cascading waterfall in Hawai’i, here is your WATERFALL HULA & LEI-MAKING opportunity in the lush Waimea Valley on the North Shore of Oahu. Add the joy of learning a hula dance and making a beautiful flower lei… what a day! This walk story with MALIA HELELA begins and ends at Waimea Falls Park & Botanical Gardenst. It’s 10 am - 12 noon, February 20.

Ancient wisdom for today’s leaders managing natural resources - including people - Island style: PALENA MANAGEMENT PRACTICES & HAWAIIAN CULTURE. Early Hawaiians on isolated islands thrived by managing their precious resources. With an easy walk to Ala Moana Beach Park, you’ll learn under the shade of a tree. MALIA HELELA starts with a traditional healing prayer to align all aspects of life. Monday, March 9, 12-2 pm.

Discover Waikīkī’s rich history on this insightful walking tour on March 20, 9:30-11:30 am. On WAIKIKI WALK STORY & HULA along Kalia Road and Waikīkī beach MALIA HELELA shares the story of Kawehewehe, the surrounding fishponds and healing springs that were filled in the 1920’s. She invites each participant to seek healing and recovery within themselves and in their natural surroundings.

Whether you are a novice or an established dancer, your 3 DAY HULA “APPRECIATION” EXPERIENCE with Kumu MALIA HELELA will immerse you in the cultural background, techniques, inspiration and foundations of traditional Hawaiian Hula. Connect with the heart of aloha and the land of Hawaii. No prior hula experience necessary. Friday, April 23, 9 am - Sunday, April 25, 5 pm. In English and Japanese.


-- Fitness & Wellness Trainings --

A two day in-person extensive barre course prepares instructors and trainers to teach classes or privates with or without a ballet barre. BARRE VIDA INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION TRAINING the weekend of February 22-23, with JO STONE FITNESS. During the training you will practice teaching, understand how to modify for injuries, and learn advanced techniques. Participants are encouraged to have a strong prior practice of teaching or studying exercise, yoga or dance.

While she’s on Island, the Founder - JO STONE - is teaching two BARRE VIDA public classes for anyone and everyone: February 18 & 20, 5:45-6:45 pm.

AERIAL PILATES TEACHER TRAINING offers a systematic program with a creative approach to teaching Pilates using a suspended fabric hammock as your training equipment.
 Created by WAINANI ARNOLD, the founder of Wainani Wellness Center, this training program teaches you to mindfully lead students to feel safe, successful, invigorated and inspired to move. Tuesday - Sunday, May 19-24, 2020.

Curious about Nia? Never heard of it? Already take Nia dance and want to learn the basics? Been dancing Nia for years and want a boost? VALERIE SANCHEZ presents an INTRODUCTION TO NIA on February 1, 12 - 2 pm. You’ll discover a fabulous workout! Nia offers: the joy of dance, the power and precision of the martial arts and the restorative and relaxation techniques of the healing arts – all in ONE class. Perfect for beginners and seasoned students alike!

Join international Nia Trainer WINALEE ZEEB March 11-17, 2020 for the transformational NIA WHITE BELT TRAINING. Positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live: health and fitness for Body, Mind and Spirit. Many trainees enjoy this training for greater self understanding. The White Belt Training can also be your entryway into teaching Nia.

Winalee also teaches public Nia classes for everyone during her week-long stay with us!


-- Kids --

Participation in this hula halau (school) is one of the best introductions to Hawaiian language and culture. KEIKI HULA SPRING SERIES lasts February 2 - April 26, 2020: 12 weeks plus Final May Day performance on May 3. MALIA HELELA instructs students in both hula kahiko (ancient hula) and hula auana (modern hula), with the basic steps as well as oli (Hawaiian chants). Children will learn appreciation for nature, and how to make flower lei.

Two fabulous aerial teachers, ANDREA TORRES on Tuesdays 4:15 pm KATHARINE HARTS on Sundays 9 am, lead our KIDS AERIAL SPRING SERIES from February through April. In a safe environment, our keiki fly, dance, develop confidence to express themselves, promoting positive growth with friendship, movement and music. Performances March 14 and May 3 for prepared students.
