The Bo M. Karlsson Foundation is thrilled to announce a new project that partners with artists from around the world to help to raise funds for our scholarships, while showcasing the beauty and character of Nepal!

The idea was sparked on a November afternoon in Madrid, Spain, where the founder of our organization was having wine and tapas at the famous Café Central with a couple of friends while discussing Nepal and the work BMKF does to empower Nepalese women through higher education scholarships.
One of the friends at the table was the Spanish graphic designer and illustrator, Álvaro Alvarado. Entranced by the stories about Nepal and the remarkable young women we have put through college for the past 16 years, Álvaro went home feeling elated and inspired. That same day, he created his first watercolor with a Himalayan theme. When he shared it with Sonnia, she loved it and had a eureka moment! She approached Álvaro with the idea of starting an international movement between artists and the Bo M. Karlsson Foundation. Álvaro embraced the idea without hesitation. With that in mind, he created a second watercolor exclusively for BMKF.

Upon learning of this new project, Josefa Moura from Lisbon, Portugal, another talented artist, enthusiastically joined the effort. Josefa painted three different watercolors, also with Nepal themes, and donated the rights to BMKF: "I am excited to be part of this. God bless your work!"

The third artist to join this remarkable group is another internationally known painter, the fabulous Anna Tarasenko of Russia. Her beautiful Boudha Stupa, painted during her recent visit to Nepal, is now part of this stunning body of work available to the Foundation.

Sonnia continues to reach out to more artists from other countries, with a goal of having each continent represented.
"It warms the heart at how amazingly generous people in the artistic community are. I am yet to encounter one rejection! Once they learn about our mission and vision, they gladly accept to be part of our project."
Blank greeting cards in sets of two and prints of the artworks will be available for purchase through our website. All net proceeds will go to our scholarships.
Every few months we will announce new artists who have joined the project, so be sure to check back!
We look forward to your support.
