Queen City Brewers Festival   •   Feb. 1, 2020   •   The Park Expo - Charlotte

We're closing in on a full house at QCBF 2020. The 9th annual festival arrives in 10 days!

The site plan is almost final, beer selections are coming in waves (more on that in a moment) and both tasting sessions are close to fully sold. With 10 days and a few hours to spare, it's time to highlight a few need-to-knows because we want everyone to ACE their QCBF tasting session.

First and foremost, if you're not serving beer, cider, freshly prepared foods or snacks, you'll need a ticket for entry. For 8 years we've had a waiting list prior to doors opening so don't find yourself on that list. Tickets here:

These beers caught our eye. . .

Beer selections are pouring in and there's no shortage of unique and must-try offerings coming to QCBF 2020. Here's a baker's dozen of selections from over 50 exclusively Charlotte-area breweries & cideries:

Armored Cow - "You Put The Lime in the Coconut" - sour with coconut and lime
Divine Barrel - "The Universe is a Donut" - imperial stout with donuts, espresso beans, cocoa nibs and vanilla
Pilot Brewing - "Mimosa Gose" - award-winning blood orange infused gose
High Branch - "Bossman" (new variant) - imperial stout
Southern Range - "Peanut Butter Cookie Doh" - Russian imperial stout peanut butter variant
OMB - Bourbon Barrel aged Fruh Bock
Resident Culture - "High Culture" (collaboration with High Branch) - NE DIPA hopped with mosaic, simcoe & galaxy
Protagonist - "Bizarro" - super saison with brett
King Canary Brewing - "Nightjar" - Barrel aged Mixed Culture Tart Saison
Percent Tap House - "No Rynd or Reason" - sour with cantaloupe and rosemary
Southern Strain Brewing - Chardonnay Barrel Aged "Out To Pasteur" - French Saison
Wooden Robot - not yet named - vanilla imperial porter
Legion - "Glazed and Infused" - amber ale made with Pepperbox doughnuts, maple and smoked malt. Inspired by CharlotteFive readers and Pepperbox's maple bacon doughnut.

Plus, there will be a variety of Great Wagon Road Rua barrel-aged beers to try from the Charlotte Independent Brewers Alliance (CIBA) table. Be sure to visit your friendly CIBA member brewery representative and learn about this organization focused on positively impacting the Charlotte community through brewery-wide initiatives.

What are your plans post-session?
Just two turns and 2.0 miles from The Park Expo you'll find the doors to our 5-8:30 p.m. session sponsor, Pinhouse, where you can put your tasting glass back to use at their self-serve taps, play a few rounds of duckpin bowling and grab a bite to eat from the Kre8 food truck. And there's a FREE SHUTTLE there thanks to our friends at Rose Chauffeured Transportation. Reserve your seat by emailing info@qcbrewfest.com with your tasting session and number in your group. First-come first-served!

Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood, NoDa, maybe Uptown? Good chance there's a nearby brewery you'd like to visit that you just met or go out to eat or... just head home and prepare your Super Bowl squares. Wherever you're going from The Park Expo do so safely and have Rose take you there. Use Charlotte's version of Uber and download the RideRose app where you'll receive 10% off your first four rides using promo code QCBF.

We're counting down (check out the nifty countdown timer on qcbrewfest.com) to Feb. 1 and can't wait to welcome you to QCBF 2020 at The Park Expo. Keep up with the latest on our social channels and get excited to experience Charlotte on tap!

ACEing Autism programs return in the spring - three Charlotte locations

As a volunteer-driven organization, the number of children affected by autism that can be served through ACEing Autism programs is a function of our volunteer pool. If you'd like to join us on the courts this spring - South Charlotte, UNCC or Mooresville - email info@aceingautism.org. You don't need to be an autism or tennis specialist, just passionate about helping others through a lifelong sport!
Williams Subaru is back and you could win some new wheels!

An ultimate festival feature is the chance to go home with something BIG. Our friends at Williams Subaru are delivering just that: a chance to win a NEW car. You've seen it before, but will someone guess correctly this time? How many tennis balls does it take to fill a Subaru cabin? You're going to love this year's featured vehicle. Good luck!!
