Hi there,

I’m Aubrey, the editor of Reframe, Resolve Philly's initiative to bring more human-centered language into the newsroom. I have some exciting news to share: we're hosting our first public event in support of Reframe!

We're teaming up with the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University to host a community discussion about language and media narratives. The goal? To amplify the voices of Philadelphians and community members as we begin our work with local partners on Reframe. This spring we'll be testing tools and resources to help journalists use more inclusive and accurate language, and we want everything we do to be community-informed.

You can find the details and a digital flyer below. Note: the event is free, but capacity is limited.

Not in the Philadelphia area? No worries, I'll run down everything that goes on in a future email — keep an eye out!

Sound Off: Reframing the News

Who: Philadelphia residents and community members, as well as a few journalists and journo-adjacent folks.

What: A discussion on the framing and language Philadelphia media uses when reporting on the communities they serve, especially marginalized groups and underrepresented neighborhoods.

Where: Temple University's Charles Library at 1900 N. 13th Street.

When: January 29, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

How: Attendees will break into small groups to share their own experiences with media coverage of their neighborhood and imagine how that relationship can be improved.

RSVP: Let us know you'll be there through EventBrite.
Have questions? Want to share your thoughts? Just reply to this email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Hope to see you there!

Best,
Aubrey

P.S. Yes, that is our new logo. Isn't it great??
