Virtual Field Trip Apps and Websites
Field trips are informal learning experiences that get students out into the world, exploring the world and students' interests. Trips to museums, parks, historical sites, and more show students that learning (and life) happens outside the classroom, too. During field trips, students discover new things and learn in authentic environments, placing classroom content into new contexts. Unfortunately, for many schools and students, field trips are rare (if they happen at all). Thankfully, there are great games, apps, and websites that can bring places and experiences fostered by field trips to the classroom.

To ensure any infrastructure concerns (Technology availability or Wi-Fi network) are identified and addressed before the Online Summative ELPAC testing, all schools will conduct an ELPAC Readiness Test between Monday, December 9, 2019 and Friday, January 24, 2020. Each school will select the best date and time to conduct this readiness test. Student Testing Branch will email detailed information to all testing coordinators. Reduced-Cost Internet from California Emerging Technology Fund 
We know you are keenly aware of the Homework Gap and the Opportunity Gap, cruel results of the digital divide between students who have home internet access and those who do not. These gaps impact low-income and rural area students, making it difficult to complete homework assignments and take advantage of other online opportunities. The California Emerging Technology Fund is partnering with schools and districts serving low-income students to spread the word about reduced-cost internet offers.

ITI Director Named “Innovator of the Year” by Education Dive
Los Angeles Unified School District Instructional Technology Initiative Director Sophia Mendoza knew her future path as an educator when she was a 5-year-old kindergarten student. “The only other Latinas I saw growing up in the district were either working in the cafeteria or on the playground,” Mendoza recalled. “I wanted students to be able to see themselves in their teachers.”
