PARENTAL LEAVE
As from 1 January 2020 The Basic Conditions of Employment Act has been amended in terms of parental leave which has a direct impact on the family responsibility leave clause. We are very excited to share our training schedule and costs for 2020! We know you focus on technical upskilling on a daily basis. Yet strong interpersonal skills are equally important to ensure that technical expertise are applied in a way to make the greatest impact. See attached for our training schedule and costs for 2020. COURSE OVERVIEW

Introduction to Labour Law in the Workplace

 
Not sure when and how to act if an employee transgresses a rule / is not capable performing to the required standards of the role?  Do you know the difference between misconduct procedures and incapacity procedures? This introduction to Labour Law in the Workplace will comprise of practical examples, exercises and case law as the basis for learning. This will enable you to manage day to day issues in the workplace in a fair and legal manner, as well as how to prepare for and present your case at a disciplinary inquiry at the end of this session.

Audience: This training is applicable to supervisors and management (Junior, Middle and Senior).

Length: Full day
 
Communication for Workplace Success
 
Do your employees struggle to communicate effectively? Are they taking into account the interpersonal factors at play during interactions? This course provides them with the tools to achieve better workplace communication from a practical as well as interpersonal perspective. Effective feedback is also covered as part of this essential training.
 
Audience: This course is applicable to employees on the EE Skilled occupational level and upwards.

Length: Half day

Conflict Resolution

Does unresolved conflict cause issues with team effectiveness and productivity? We all have differing viewpoints, and this often leads to disagreements or conflict in the workplace. While a certain amount of well managed conflict is healthy, it can also have destructive effects on relationships. This training provides an overview of the warning signs of conflict, and explores the positive and negative aspects of conflict. Practical conflict resolution approaches are explored and practiced in the session, to help the individual deal effectively with conflict in the workplace.

Audience: This training is applicable to employees on the EE Skilled occupational level and upwards.

Length: Half day
 
Time Management

Are you or your employees struggling to meet deadlines and keep to timelines? Are there issues with effective prioritisation? This practical training helps individuals focus on critical activities, providing guidance on how to prioritise effectively. In addition, scheduling and setting realistic timelines are explored, helping delegates identify and deal with potential risks or obstacles to ensure work is completed on time and as efficient as possible.

Audience: This training is applicable to employees on the EE Skilled occupational level and upwards.

Length: Half day

Problem Solving & Effective Decision-Making

Are your employees making poor quality decisions? Failing to identify problems proactively and finding effective solutions? This training provides a decision making framework to guide effective decision making, including gathering relevant information, setting up decision making criteria, analysing and evaluating information, involving others at critical stages, and choosing the best course of action.

Audience: This training is applicable to employees on the EE Skilled occupational level and upwards.

Length: Full day

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT EQUITY
The Skills development (ATR, WSP and Pivotal Reports) submission deadline is 30 April 2020.  We will be contacting you soon to start the process to ensure a smooth and stress-free submission for you.  We will also be facilitating the quarterly Employment Equity meetings as part of the skills meeting this year to ensure compliance with the Employment Equity legislation.  If we have not done your Skills development submissions before and you would like us to assist in 2020 please send an e-mail to brumilda@m3online.co.za
NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE
Ms Jahni de Villiers, Agri SA's Head: HR, Labour & Development and a member of the NWM Commission indicated that the NMW Commission was meant to have met on 21 November 2019 but there was not a quorate and the meeting had to be cancelled. It is likely that the meeting will only occur in January 2020 and thereafter a recommendation will be sent to the Minister. After that a 30-day notice period has to be given to employers of what the new NMW will be and the Minister cannot determine the new wage until a recommendation thereon has been received from the NMW Commission. It is therefore foreseen that the NMW might only be implemented on 1 March 2020 at the earliest. It might then also be backdated until 1 January 2020 once it is implemented. Although not a guarantee, it is probable that the NMW will only be increased by the CPI (latest one is 3.6%). Therefore if your company is in a financial position to increase the minimum wage with the CPI at this stage, the backdated implementation of the NMW (when announced) would not have a huge implication on your company.
