Salt-tolerant potatoes on sale in Jumbo Supermarkets

Recently Wageningen university & research published a report forecasting what the map of the Netherlands will look like in 2120. Salt tolerant potatoes could be part of this vision of the future, as Tim Van Hattum, climate program leader at Wageningen University & Research, mentioned in a recent Dutch TV episode of Buitenhof (aired on 5 January 2020).

For our readers in the Netherlands, our salt-tolerant potatoes are available for sale throughout the country in Jumbo supermarkets. Link

The proceeds from this sale will be used by Salt Farm Foundation for further development of knowledge and sharing this knowledge with developing countries.

The Netherlands needs to adapt to a different form of cultivation like salt-tolerant potatoes during the periods of drought, where the groundwater becomes salty says Tim Van Hattum, climate program leader at Wageningen University & Research.

Our goal is to improve food security, reduce poverty and to provide a solution for the adverse consequences of climate change.
A challenging goal, for which we need all the support we can get.
