UTSC External Review -- 4-6 February 2020
The University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is undergoing an External Review of its academic programs and research activities on 4-6 February 2020. The reviewers -- Chandra Madramootoo, Bonnie Thornton Dill, and Evelyn Welch -- will be on campus on 4-5 February. To access more information and the self study see the Sharepoint site.

It is the University of Toronto’s position that International graduate students should not be visiting the university for a period of more than one month without registering in the International Visiting Graduate Student (IVGS) program. The IVGS program ensures that visiting students have a defined legal relationship with the University and secures them access to Student Life programs and services, University resources and health coverage. More information will be provided during the upcoming lunch & learn 21 February, 11-1pm: Troubleshooting Processes with SGS: Best practices and pitfalls.  Please share with faculty in your units. Register online and contact Eileen Egan-Lee

This is a quick reminder that all Chairs and Academic Directors who are hosting events where alcohol may be served, and who will be submitting an Expense Reimbursement (ERDD) -- including recruitment dinners -- are asked to send an email to the Dean requesting pre-approval. National Survey of Student Engagement 2020 (PDAD&C #31)
In the coming weeks, the University of Toronto, along with all Ontario universities and Canadian peer institutions, will participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). NSSE begins 11 February and will invite undergraduates from select Faculties to participate. We are asking that you encourage your faculty and staff to promote this survey widely. Survey fatigue can significantly and negatively affect response rates. For this reason, we ask that you refrain from conducting surveys of first and fourth-year undergraduate students between 8 February and 29 March.

Principal's Awards Nominations
The nomination process for the 2020 Principal’s Awards is now open. The Principal’s Service Excellence Awards have been revamped including the names of the awards and eligibility for each of the categories. Full details can be found by clicking on the image below.

The Winter term is well underway and Reading Week will be here soon. We are experiencing good weather and I encourage people to take time outdoors. Take care of yourself and stay home if you are not feeling well. Rest is the best way to help the body heal.
