We’re taking advantage of a ‘warm’ day tomorrow to load up the hotbox for pothole repairs. We’ll heat this overnight for a full day of road work before snow returns. This complements the long term strategy of enhanced paving, sewer relining and water main work. #btv #vt https://t.co/JVnNPh3z3J

If Amtrak does come to #BTV, as early as next year, it would take 8 hours to get from BTV to #NYC. With hi speed wifi, no driving, it would be a productive 8 hours without the hassle or cost of parking. Union Station’s ground floor would host a heated passenger waiting area. 🚊

Dave's Corner 💭
One of the most fun programming projects is known as emulation. It basically involves taking an old hardware specification and implementing it in software. For example, you could write an emulator that plays Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games on a modern PC by writing software that pretends to be the CPU, GPU, and APU of the original NES. Games then "think" they are running on an NES when really they are running within a program that is running on your PC.

Crossing stop light was recently replaced by "flashing light crossing", like others installed around town. In most locations this would be fine, but not in front of Decker Towers. Many residents have trouble walking, some use canes, walkers, or wheelchairs. We have had quite a few close calls so far. We need a crossing light like the one at the top of Church Street, that allows a slow walker time to cross. Please look into this - it's important. Thanks, BC @ Decker - "slow walker"

Recycling dumped out on greenbelt. Flying around neighborhood and in front our driveway instead of theirs. We have come home to their totes in our driveway. Their recycling flying around our driveway. Requiring us to get out of our car and move totes and trash/recycling in order to get into our driveway. They need to be better about putting out their recycling or it becomes a mess and safety hazard as you can see it is falling into the street. Please put it by their driveway so it does not encroach on our ability to get in and out of our driveway.

Random Burlingtonian Quote of the Day 📝
This idea is that laws which purport to be statements of what actually occurs are statistical in character as distinct from so-called dynamic laws that are abstract and mathematical, and disguised definitions. Recognition of the statistical nature of physical laws was first effected in the case of gases when it became evident that generalizations regarding the behavior of swarms of molecules were not descriptions or predictions of the behavior of any individual particle. A single molecule is not and cannot be a gas. It is consequently absurd to suppose that a scientific law is about the elementary constituents of a gas. It is a statement of what happens when a large number of such constituents interact with one another under certain conditions.
—John Dewey
