Fundraising news

Welcome to our first 2020 OTR Friends Newsletter! We are sending this newsletter once a month to inform all our donors and supporters about OTR Bristol activities and to support your fundraising campaigns. (If you made a donation to us via JustGiving and indicated staying in touch, this is our way of doing so. However, if you don't like newsletters and prefer to read those updates in the browser, please save this link and unsubscribe).

January is a good time to plan the year ahead so we would like to remind you that the easiest way to support us is to nominate us as a Charity of the Year at your workplace.  We love collaborating with corporate supporters because we can involve them in a wide range of fundraising activities across the year, but also raise awareness around young people's mental health in their organisations. If you wish to nominate us, please use our supporter pages and documents included in this newsletter. If you need any additional information, please get in touch.

We are very grateful to all the fantastic groups, teams and organisations who fundraised for us over the holiday period and are already making their plans for 2020. If you are organising an event for us, please get in touch - whenever possible we will do our best to join your event and say a few words about our work. We will share photos on our @OTRfriends Twitter and Instagram

We would also like to say thank you to all individuals who take on sports challenges to fundraise for us. As we enter 2020, we welcome our supporters who run marathons, abseil, skydive and cycle for us. For example, c
heck out the amazing cycling journey of Pedr and Rhodri through Latin and North America. They are sharing their stories on Instagram so follow @cyclingsugarglider and @rhodsprice for very personal journals, photos and videos.

Our thanks go to...

Project Zazi

Project Zazi has started 2020 with a brand new team dedicated to empowering young BAME people in Bristol. Whether that is through work with young women within the community, delivering workshops on social action or working with young people, the focus remains the same: to facilitate discussions on identity, celebrate and prize difference and cultivate a culture of powerful, peaceful resistance. Check out this recent BBC article featuring Lewis Wedlock from Project Zazi. Check out our website and follow project Zazi on Instagram to find out more.

Notes from OTR Team
Sophie Troop, Corporate Fundraising Volunteer: "It’s been great to have the opportunity to get to know our corporate neighbours and think of ways to reach out to them. I have been researching those who are new to offering their support in this way and have been trying to come up with new ways of making contact. I’m also planning on eventually producing a pack that new corporates can access to understand the process of having OTR as their Charity of the Year. I’ve really enjoyed working on this project and I’m looking forward to seeing where these relationships might eventually lead! "
Jess Seppings, Marketing and Communications Volunteer: "This month I have been working on different aspects of internal marketing and communication support and have also been doing work to support the running of the OTR Shop.  Going to one of the Hubs allowed me to experience part of what OTR offers to young people and to see the positive impact it has on the lives of young people in Bristol."
Featured Skills Offer

We would like to say thank you to the team OVO Energy Bristol who spent two days with us in 2019 helping us shape the future of community fundraising.
We will be working with them in the first half of 2020 and cannot wait to learn more from their brilliant team.
