Hello  Camp Friends

Happy New Year from BBC! We hope you are looking forward to a 2020 full of adventure and joy. And we hope you'll consider helping us out here at BBC in the coming year.

One of the more urgent needs is coming up in just a few weeks: COOKING at POLAR BEAR SNOW CAMP. A description of this need and a handful of others are listed below.

COOK: Jan 31 - Feb 2: Cooking for Polar Bear Snow Camp. The weekend starts on Friday evening with dinner for staff and a snack for campers. Campers will eat meals here on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. You'll be joined by other volunteers to help with dishes, etc. Plan to stay for a super bowl party at camp following Polar Bear Camp. But don't worry, that's a potluck, no cooking required. Email amber@bethanybirches.org if you can help!

Woodcutting Weekend: If you like chainsaws, being in the woods and seeing productivity pile up consider bringing a group of friends to BBC for a woodcutting weekend. You bring the person power and we'll provide the machines and by burning wood instead of propane all winter camp is able to save money and reduce our environmental impact. Email Patrick at camp@bethanybirches for more info.

Summer Volunteering: (any week between June 21 - Aug 7)

Health Aid: This person administers camper medications, provides basic first aid and plenty of TLC to campers who feel under the weather. This person works with the camp director in communicating health concerns and needs to campers parents and decisions regarding camper health needs. Experience in the medical field required: (RN, EMT, PA, MD, etc). BBC has liability insurance and the state of VT allows for provisional licenses for volunteers from other states. See more details here or contact amber@bethanybirches.org for more info. This volunteer opportunity can double as a barter opportunity. If you'd like to offer your health care expertise in exchange for camper fees, let's talk more.

Kitchen Volunteer: Chopping food, packing crates, washing dishes, interacting with campers and spending a week in the green mountains are all part of volunteering in the BBC kitchen. Volunteers are led by 2 summer staff cooks and are part of how BBC keeps the cost down for campers. See more info here or email amber@bethanybirches.org for details

More than 100 individuals volunteered over 3000 hours throughout 2019. We are so grateful! Volunteers are essential to keeping camp affordable for any camper who wants to come while also giving adults/families an opportunity to experience God at camp. Looking forward to building the community at BBC with volunteers and campers and staff in 2020!

Hope to see you on the hill!
