Keynote Speaker - Dr. Bettina L. Love

We are excited to announce that Dr. Bettina L. Love will deliver a keynote address at the 2020 BOOST Conference on Thursday, April 30 during the General Session.

Dr. Love is one of the field’s most esteemed educational researchers in the area of Hip Hop education. Her research focuses on the ways in which urban youth negotiate Hip Hop music and culture to form social, cultural, and political identities to create new and sustaining ways of thinking about urban education and intersectional social justice. Her work is also concerned with how teachers and schools working with parents and communities can build communal, civically engaged schools rooted in intersectional social justice for the goal of equitable classrooms.

Dr. Bettina Love will be facilitating a Master Class, Social Justice Perspectives, on Thursday, April 30, 10:00AM-12:00PM, and she will be participating in our Meet the Authors event on Thursday, April 30, from 12:00PM-1:00PM in the Exhibit Hall. You can pre-register for her Master Class and purchase her book in advance in your online account.

In Loving Memory of Mary Jo Ginty

On December 29, 2019, we lost a colleague, leader, mentor, friend, and giant. And it hurts. Mary Jo Ginty made a significant impact on all of us in so many ways, personally and professionally. Her passing is a momentous loss to everyone who knew her. Her contributions to the Expanded Learning field will be one of her greatest legacies. It is fair to say she taught us so many valuable lessons along the way.
