The Hebrew Free Loan Association of Greater Washington is grateful for the community's generous support which allowed for a significant increase in the number of loans awarded last year. To build on this growth and to better serve the community, HFLAGW increased the maximum loan amount to $15,000.

Since 1909, Hebrew Free Loan of Greater Washington has been providing zero-interest loans to members of our community in need of assistance. Loans help in many areas including:

Fertility and adoption
Graduate school
Business start-ups
Emergency medical expenses
High interest student debt

How do our loans work?

When a member of the Greater Washington, DC Jewish community is in need of financial assistance, HFLAGW is here to help. Loans for qualified applicants are available up to $15,000.

There is a simple loan application that is available on the online. Every loan requires one or more qualified guarantor.

Once the loan is approved by the HFLAGW loan committee, funds are released to the borrower. Interest-free loan repayment begins immediately and equal installments are spread over 24 to 36 months, depending on the size and terms of the loan.
