Ultimate Organizing to (Finally) Write Your Book

messy filesHello dear reader,

You may have heard me say that I'm on a mission to overthrow the tyranny of learn / earn / retire. As part of that, my plan in 2020 is to sit down again and tackle a book on the topic of Gap Year For Grown-Ups.

My podcast expands on the idea that if you give yourself enough time and space you can figure out what comes next. Each episode looks at a different piece of the "what's next" question. Frankly, producing a podcast is a lot more fun than writing a book.

But a book would put everything I've learned and experienced on this topic in one place. I see it as a handbook to dip into for logistics and specific ideas. Just as important, I see it as a way to hash out and clarify all the existential questions related to midlife, growing older, contributing, connecting and creating a legacy.

And boy have I collected a ton of material over the past few years to illustrate "what's next" at midlife and beyond. The information is in dozens of folders on my hard drive, it's stored in Google Drive, it's in the Cloud via Evernote. I've got folders of research and topics lined up in Scrivener, a leading software tool for writing. I've got stacks of print outs in my office.

Argh!! Does this scene (cf the woman in the illustration at her desk) sound familiar?

It's called a mess of research. And while collecting all this information can be useful, it can also be paralyzing when it comes to actually writing your book. What do you have? How do you find it? How do  you organize it? How do you use it in writing your book?

Thus an idea was hatched. Knowing this is a challenge I'm confronting, I'm pretty sure that some of you reading this are in the same boat. So I've decided to offer, for a limited period, a new book coaching service. It's called Ultimate Organizing to Write Your Book.

If you find yourself in a similar situation with a mess of research, if one of your 2020 intentions is to write a book, and if that intention has been simmering and stewing on your back burner, then read on...

Introducing... Ultimate Organizing to Write Your Book

Finally, organize the information you’ve collected…

You know, all the bits and pieces of digital and paper files and folders you’ve gathered for years for the book you’re gonna write.

… so you can start writing.

Have you collected so much information that you don’t know where or what is on your hard drive, in the Cloud or in the stacks of paper in your office? There is an important step before you start writing.

Step #1: Find everything

I’ll help you find the research, quotes, interviews, links, websites and resources you’ve squirreled away. We’ll catalogue what you’ve got.

Step #2: Organize it

With hands-on help from me (I’ll look over your shoulder via Zoom video) we’ll organize your hard drive. Then I’ll help you create a system for your paper files that mirrors what you have digitally on your computer or in the Cloud. If you wish, I’ll show you how to get the most out of tools like Evernote and Scrivener.

Step #3: Deploy your arsenal of information

First, I’ll help you nail what your book is really about. Not just the topic but your unique take on the subject that makes readers sit up and beg for more. We’ll create a draft Table of Contents. Then I’ll show you how to systematically deploy your arsenal of digital and paper information every time you sit down to write.

Step #4: Say goodbye to confusion, uncertainty and writer’s block

Writing a book is hard; I won’t sugarcoat that. But with a system in place, you can start writing with clarity and confidence. You will always have information at the ready for inspiration or illustration. You’ll be primed, energized and focused every time you start writing.

Finally, start writing your book in 2020 with an essential boost of mental clarity and productivity.

Learn more and sign up by Jan. 15, 2020 to take advantage of a very special offer. Normally, book coaching with me starts at $2,500. Ultimate Organizing, because it's something new, is a fraction of that.

There are three spots available.

What my book coaching clients are saying...

Denise EdmondDebbie’s feedback is right-on and thought provoking. And she is more than a book coach. Her way of listening and questioning has also helped me more clearly define the next chapter of my life. It’s wonderful working with someone who has such a natural ability to co-create! - Denise Edmond,
Retired corporate executive in her 40s plotting her "what's next."

P.S. As I said in my last newsletter, 2020 may be the last year that I offer book coaching. I hope you'll take advantage of this special offer if you've ever thought about working with me one-to-one.
