Week of January 10, 2020:
Dear Guardian Angels School Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you and your family were able to spend some good quality time together over break. We had a great first week back.
During the winter months, please be sure your child comes dressed for the weather. We cannot predict when a school bus might have issues on the way. Preschool - 5th grade all go outside daily if the weather is above zero wind chill unless they have a written notice. Students are allowed to leave an extra pair of boots and snow pants at school. Middle School students should also be encouraged to dress for the weather.
Just a friendly reminder about snow days and late starts due to weather. We use the Guardian Angels Church One Call Now service. This is an automatic calling system that will send out a message from us about a school cancellation or late start. We will also send an email stating the same information as a backup. Please be sure to inform Roxie Diaz if the number we have for you has changed. Notification will also be posted on Channels 4, 5, 9 & 11. Sometimes it takes a while for them to post. We follow Eastern Carver School District.
Next week we kick off the United Financial Raffle. Starting January 17th, our students will join students from 89 other schools across Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota in selling the $5 tickets. Each ticket purchased gives ticket buyers the opportunity to win a 2020 Buick Encore (or $20,000 in cash), or other great prizes totaling $40,000 in value. Best of all, every penny of every ticket sold stays at Guardian Angels thanks to the Raffle’s sole sponsor Catholic United Financial. The St. Paul-based company provides all the prizes and promotion materials for the Raffle at no cost to the participating schools. Our goal is $14,000. Each family will be given a packet of tickets to sell. There will be several Sign Up Genius for families to sell tickets before and after masses at Guardian Angels, St. Nicholas, St. Bernard and St. Victoria. We will also have a sign up for the Beef & Sausage event. Watch for more information next week.
Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year will open next week. Early enrollment helps us plan our staffing for next year. In addition, those seeking Aim Higher Scholarships must submit applications by February 18th. Please make an appointment with Mrs. Lovegreen or Sra. Diaz prior before February 14th.
Please help us spread the word about our upcoming Open Houses on Sunday, January 29th with the Teddy Bear Band at 11:30 and Friday, January 31st which will be a movie night at 6:30.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
