From International Passive House Association (iPHA)
Cooling was a big topic at COP25... “the need for cooling is growing – and with it the demand for air conditioning. By 2050, around 2/3 of the world’s households could have an air conditioner... We both need better building designs and more efficient air conditioning units to reduce the cooling energy demand while protecting people against extreme heatwaves. Passive House is a positive step towards keeping buildings cool in the heat, as monitoring results have shown at the last International Passive House Conference in China... Also, high-performance buildings put less stress on the energy grid."
"...speaker Andrew McAllister, Commissioner of the California Energy Commission, praised Passive House as the direction buildings needed to go to make a renewable energy economy possible."

Cambridge's 'Passive House' Is Built With Focus On Affordable Housing, Climate Change
|
|
|
From wbur.org
"It's designed to simultaneously address two of today's toughest problems: the climate crisis and the urgent need for affordable housing. When construction is finished next spring, Finch Cambridge will become the city's largest affordable housing project built in the last 40 years.
Building to the passive house standard will add about 2% to the total construction cost of Finch Cambridge.
"Climate change is a social justice crisis," she said. "It is hitting our most vulnerable populations at the most extreme levels, and at the same time, it's an unbelievable opportunity to rethink our society and bring everybody on board. And everybody can be part of the solution instead of everybody being dragged down by the problem." "
