HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! HAPPY “32nd” Year MFMII!
Music for Minors II wishes all of our volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners, a wonderful New Year of peace and prosperity along with lots of music to keep us hopeful and united to make this world a better place.
2019 was a very good year for MFMII and we closed it with a holiday filled with song. Our dedicated docents shared the musical joy of the season at their school sites while our MFMII Kids Choir brought their musical talents to the community including a new and exciting performance for the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) at the Doubletree Hilton on Dec. 18th. MFMII thanks the ABWA for their kind donation to MFMII.
The MFMII Kids Choir is an amazing ambassador of song for MFMII thanks to the excellent directorship of MFMII Docent and private music teacher Lydia Concepcion with the support of wonderful parents who bring their children to every Thursday after school rehearsal and performance. Don’t miss the photos included in this newsletter and please consider placing your child in this fantastic and enriching choir for children in grades 1-6.
MFMII graduated 32 new docent volunteers this past fall and are they fantastic! They are filled with the joy and love of music and so excited to share that with their students. Many new docents are already preparing their students to perform for the community in our showcase. It was such a pleasure to teach these ladies from several different cultures who had such beautiful voices. They join the other wonderful MFMII Docents who make the real musical difference in children’s lives.
MFMII thanks to the Intero Foundation and the Fremont Bank Foundation for their generous support of our upcoming Children’s Showcase on Feb. 21st. These two major sponsors will help offset some of the cost of this exciting event where we provide an unforgettable performance opportunity for our students before a large community audience. The future will bring many exciting MFMII events and weekly classroom enrichment. MFMII will kick-off 2020 with a BANG or a BONG! Don’t miss our upcoming DRUMMM Workshop on Jan. 29th at Niles School in Fremont. Jeni Swerdlow is just dynamite as she brings out our natural rhythms on amazing drums. This is open to the community and teachers in FUSD, NUSD and CVUSD can receive professional development credits for attending this event.
Recruitment has begun for our 2020 Fall Docent Training class so please help us spread the word so that we can reach many more children in need of music. Training is fun, enriching, empowering, and vital to our mission of keeping music in children’s classrooms and lives. See the recruitment flyer in this newsletter and forward it to as many people as possible who value music for children and adults too as everyone learns about music and is better for it.
