Town council opposes amended Next plans
Amended plans from high street retailer Next plc for a distribution centre / warehouse off Dowding Way in Waltham Abbey are being opposed by Waltham Abbey Town Council.
The company says the scheme - which includes a photo studio to create the company's merchandising material - could generate more than 1,000 jobs.
Town councillors at Wednesday's planning and licensing sub-committee meeting were told by town clerk Kathryn Richmond that the changes from the original application were only "slight alterations".
The application is yet to be considered by Epping Forest District Council.
Mrs Richmond said 22 objections to the latest application had been received by the town council.
The committee voted to repeat its previous objections which state that the town council would like a more in-depth traffic survey, including the M25 junction.
Councillors have also repeated concerns over environmental issues and concerns over the amount of traffic which already uses Dowding Way.
Mrs Richmond said: "There is no material difference with this application."
Councillor Mick Fitch urged people to attend the district council meeting which discusses the application. It is thought this could be the district development management committee meeting at the Civic Offices, Epping, on January 22.
