1. Thanks to everyone who bid for a picture from St Michael’s Advent Calendar, in aid of its Christmas Charity Appeal, opening doors for people in need. The works were auctioned online and sales totalled £1,895 - many thanks too to the artists who are donating at least a third of the purchase price to the Appeal. 
           
2. Congratulations to the finalists in the Chiswick Book Festival  Christmas Quiz, about Chiswick’s writers and books. The winner was local author Robin Knight, with 37 marks out of 40. The runners up were Diana Oppe, with 36 marks, and Sara Gronmark with 35. Robin wins a Folio Society edition of Alain-Fournier’s Le Grand Meaulnes, donated by Foster Books. You can see the answers here

      
3. This Sunday January 12th at 10am in St Michael & All Angels Church, it’s a Parish Mass. Preacher Fr Thomas Couper. It’s the last chance to visit the Magi/Three Kings in our Christmas Crib. All welcome. 
            As you come in, why not tap your card on our Contactless Giving point inside the church doors? We will claim the Gift Aid. After the service, we shall be taking down all the Christmas decorations – all help gratefully received.          
            At 6.30pm, it’s Evensong. All welcome.
 
4. Also on Sunday 12th at 4pm in St Michael & All Angels Parish Hall, it’s the re-launch of the historic Bedford Park Bicycle Club. All are invited to discuss plans to resuscitate one of the earliest organisations of its kind. The group includes Peter Murray, 33-year Bedford Park resident, former Hon Sec of the Bedford Park Society and regular cyclist. Families and children welcome! Please RSVP to 
BPBicycleClub@icloud.com - if you can’t make the meeting, sign up to find out about future developments and rides.

5. St Michael’s Charities Group is looking for a new member. It’s a good way of getting involved in St Michael’s mission in the community. If you’re interested, talk to John Clark in church or email him at 
johnclark@gmx.co.uk.
            Are you having a New Year clear-out? One of St Michael’s 2019 charities, The Upper Room, requires winter clothing: new men’s socks and underwear; men’s gloves, hats, scarves and coats in good condition. Please place clothing in marked box at back of the church when it is open for services.
           And one of the Chiswick Book Festival charities, The Felix Projectis seeking volunteers in the Chiswick area. It redistributes quality, surplus food to charities and schools to help feed people in need. For more info, contact:

6. On Monday January 13th from 3pm to 5pm it’s the first 2020 Café Conversation session at Avanti, Bedford Corner, W4 1LD, organised by Louise Kaye, to encourage lonely or isolated people to have a cup of tea or coffee and chat to others in a similar situation. 
            On Wednesday January 15th from 2pm-4pm it’s the next Café Conversation at Cafe Grove, 7 Grove Park Road, W4 3RS.

7. Also on Monday 13th at 8pm (and January 20th, 27th, February 4th) at St Michael & All Angels, there’s a Course on Christian Meditation with Fr Thomas Couper.

8. On Friday January 17th at 10.30am in St Michael & Angels Church, it’s the next Bach to Baby concert – The Four Seasons: Winter. Doors open at 10am.

9. On Saturday January 18th from 10-11am in St Michael’s Parish Hall (Raphael Room) it's Yogaplusexercise for beginners and intermediate level (adults).  £10 pay-as-you-go (£5 for retirees).  And every Saturday until March 28th except February 1st and March 7th). More info:

10. On Sunday January 19th at 12.30pm in St Michael’s Parish Hall (Michael Room) there’s a Burns Parish Lunch: traditional haggis, neeps & tatties (veggie haggis available) and a dram of Scotch whisky. Signup sheets at the back of church and 
an electronic one here  (people should only fill in one or the other). Volunteers needed, please, to help set up, clear up etc, and also to bring cold puddings.
 
11. On Monday January 20th from 11am to 5pm at the Catholic Centre, opposite Chiswick Library in Dukes Avenue W4, Better Mental Health in Chiswick presents ‘Blue Monday’ - a day of FREE sociable and fun activities – with handy hints for looking after yourself, greener living and creative sharing.
