Our mission is to create a place to encounter Jesus. Steeped in love and Catholic teachings, we provide strong academics to foster continual learning in mind and spirit.

Dear SJB Families,

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope this newsletter finds you well and having enjoyed a great weekend with your family.

We are ready for another busy week here at St. John's. This week our students in grades two through six will take a winter NWEA math assessment. This is new. Our goal this year is to increase the number of students meeting their growth goals in math. Of course, we are focused on reading too, but we have chosen the 2019-2020 school year to focus very intentionally on math. Our teachers have gone through further differentiated instruction and data analysis training with a coach from Tierney Brothers. This mid-year score will give us insight into the effectiveness of the new math series purchased this year, and give teachers valuable information to inform their instruction into the spring.

Our kindergarten through 2nd-grade students will also be taking their second Aimsweb assessment to help gauge the effectiveness of the Groves Partnership, and inform instruction moving forward.

NWEA and Aimsweb are just two examples of the summative assessments used by our teaching staff.

We are already preparing for the 2020-2021 school year by beginning the enrollment process. You will receive an email from our TADS online enrollment management system to enroll your child(ren).  Please see below for more information on the enrollment process.

On Tuesday of this week, students will be served a bagged lunch in lieu of the hot lunch listed on the school lunch menu. This is due to a funeral luncheon that will be taking place.
Please come to our Open House on January 26th and invite your friends!  This is a FREE event! We are also in need of volunteers to help make this a memorable occasion. This is a fun and easy way to get in some of those required volunteer hours!  Sign up here today!
On Sunday, January 26th, at the 10:00 am mass, we want to kick off Catholic Schools Week by inviting our students (K-6) to participate in mass as lectors, singers, gift bearers, and more! After mass, stay with the whole family and enjoy our carnival themed Open House! Please fill out this form if your child is able to participate! Fill out a separate form for each of your children.

Enrollment for the 2020-2021 School Year Opens January 20

I cannot believe it’s 2020 already! As a kid, I dreamed that we’d all be driving flying cars by now, or we’d be able to simply think about a place we wanted to go and transport ourselves there. Now it’s 2020 and while technology is very good, we’re not quite there. But, technology makes everyday life a lot easier, even when it comes to registering your kids for the next school year!

On January 20th, you will receive an email in your inbox from our enrollment management company, TADS. You will receive an email for each child you have enrolled at St. John’s. Simply follow the link found in the email to enroll your child for the 2020-2021 school year!

We NEVER WANT financial concerns to deter a family from choosing St. John’s! We work with families to make affording a Catholic education possible for anyone who desires it for their children!. Aim Higher Scholarship Application Deadline

St. John's has several ways families can receive tuition assistance. The first of the scholarships we offer is the
Aim Higher Scholarship (K-6). The Aim Higher Organization works to assist families of the greatest need at each of our archdiocesan Catholic elementary schools. Recipients must apply each year for this scholarship to continue, but once it is given, the scholarship is given annually (if applied for) to the student through their years at St. John's!

The Aim Higher Organization is currently accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year. Log-in to our online enrollment system, TADS to apply! The deadline for applications for this type of scholarship is February 18th.
