Announcing a New Section of American Dance Abroad's Newsletter

Over the years we at American Dance Abroad have come to learn that the awards and special recognitions that American artists receive are of great value as international colleagues become more and more familiar with American dance artists.  We have not up to now included those special achievements in our newsletter, but with this edition we will begin to do so.  If you receive an award that you would like to share with international as well as national colleagues, please complete this form.

Aaron Samuel Davis Awarded State Capital Award for Düsseldorf

The dancer Aaron Samuel Davis was born in 1992 in Connecticut, New London, USA. From 2014 to 2016 he studied at the Folkwang Hochschule der Künste and completed his education at the "TISCH SCHOOL New York".  When he returned to Germany, he decided to work in Düsseldorf. In the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, he has already worked with numerous institutions and artists such as the tanzhaus nrw, Ben J. Riepe Company and "KABAWIL".

The jury's reasons include: "His [Aaron Samuel Davis'] choreographic dance style forms an exciting interweaving of strong dance theater influence with urban dance cultures and an expressive movement language. He combines contemporary dance, West African dances, house, jazz and a great passion for the great narratives - always driven by an irrepressible desire for movement. He is able to mobilize people, inspire them with his ideas and convey them with the greatest seriousness and ease".
