"What the Lord Requires"

The prophet Micah was a younger contemporary of the prophet Isaiah. Micah, too, was speaking to a nation on the verge of defeat and exile; but unlike Isaiah, Micah was a commoner from the foothills, not a nobleman of Jerusalem. As each of these prophets struggle to help a people in trouble understand where God is in the midst of the strife, Micah creates an imaginative dialogue between God and God's chosen people, in the form of a courtroom drama. God challenges Israel, wanting to know why the people have turned away from the way of life and worship in which they have been instructed. And then the prophet responds, asking rhetorical questions about what it might take for the people to make amends to God, ultimately coming to a simple conclusion that has plenty of implications for how we should live as God's people today.  In our worship on February 2 Pastor Bobbi will help us consider Micah 6:1-8.

Stolpersteine
“Last Sunday during Living Stream worship I mentioned Stolpersteine, the “stumbling stones” installed by artist Gunter Demnig to mark places where Jews, Roma, GLBT folks, etc., were apprehended by Nazis. Here are some I saw in Wittenberg. Holocaust Remembrance Day #NeverAgainIsNow

From your chats on January 26. As guest preacher Joe Detrick spoke about the way in which God values that which humans discard as worthless our participants posted on the chat board:
Colleen Michael - [I felt welcomed] .......being called to serve as the District Executive in the Pacific Northwest...to serve in ministry......being fully accepted as a Gay woman.
Rebekah Flores - I hope my ministry helps others to be welcomed, affirmed, celebrated..... I see small steps towards this in the CoB but I want to see leaps!l
Judy Braune - To me the "about us" page at brethren.org is a compelling vision.
Dennis Kreps - I have been greatly influenced by church related activities as a youth. Living one's faith remains a message with which I connect.
Daniel Finkbiner - Serving in a hospital far away from a COB. I've found the welcoming of Living Stream invaluable.
Tom Powers - A vision would be the words of the song by Shirley Erena Murray, For everyone born, a place at the table.
