It's time to think about completing your annual Illinois Administrators' Academy course requirement. Registration is available for winter 2020 sessions taking place here at CPAA. Make sure you are current with your renewal cycle course requirements by going online and checking your Illinois ELIS records. Please see the next section for more information.

Administrator Licensure Information
Is your Illinois Professional Educator License due for renewal in 2020?

The answer to this question is at your fingertips.  Please go to your Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) account to review your records (https://sec3.isbe.net/IWASNET/login.aspx). If your records show a license expiration date of "06/30/2020," then this current school year is your renewal year. 

Please check your professional development records. Make sure you have entered your required amount of "Continuing Professional Development Hours," and be sure you have completed your required number of Illinois Administrator Academy courses.

Principal/Teacher Evaluator Retraining: Student Growth (#3002)**

Participants will learn how to:
  1. Use assessments and measurement models identified by the Joint Committee in determining student growth attributable to individual principals/teachers and understand how different types of assessments are used for measuring growth.
  2. Use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected, and best practices relative to evaluating student growth to link principal/teacher and school-level professional development plans to evaluation results.
  3. In collaboration with principal/teachers, create supportive, targeted professional development plans that consider past results, contribute to professional growth, and assist teachers and principals in aligning professional development and goal-setting to school improvement goals.
  4. Communicate evaluation outcomes and findings in constructive and supportive ways that enable teachers/principals to set goals and improve practice.

The focus of this course is on improving the participants’ conferencing conversation skills and strategy development with teachers. Teacher Evaluator Competency Skill Building for Pre-Qualified Teacher Evaluators - Part 1 of 3. Administrators who evaluate teachers must demonstrate a high rate of inter-rater reliability and communicate evaluation outcomes in constructive and supportive ways. This Academy focuses on Domains 2 and 3 of Charlotte Danielson’s 2013 Framework for Teaching. This course requires participants to view teaching, record data according to the Professional Practice rubric, and participate in mock evaluation conferences as an evaluator, teacher, or observer.

Walk-Throughs, Mini-Evaluations and Classroom Management (#882)

This course will look at the difference between Walk-Throughs and Mini-Evaluations, and how they can be used to get a picture of what is going on in the classroom. A particular focus will be how to use the tools to look at the classroom management skills of teachers.
