Promoting youth well-being
Uniting Opportunities young women's Thursday homework club
In partnership with Ashton Community Trust and New Lodge Arts, we have started to work with two groups of young people on Uniting Opportunities, a mental health and creativity programme. Together with youth workers and artists, they are working to create something beautiful to promote wellbeing and self-care. As a spin off from this group, the girls from the Thursday group have started a homework club.

Bringing Ardoyne and Ballysillan youth together

MADE boys visit Dublin
Our 6-month MADE programme (Monkstown Ardoyne Diversity and Empowerment) is coming to a close. The group went away to Dublin on a shared history tour of Dublin Arbour Hill Cemetery, Decorative Arts Museum and the site of the Battle of the Boyne. They relaxed together over archery, mazes and a campfire in Carlingford.
MADE is a partnership between Ardoyne Youth Enterprise and Monkstown Boxing Club where young people explore diversity and social action together. The project is funded by North Belfast Strategic Good Relations Programme.

Welcoming Newcomers to North Belfast
Small Worlds workshops + North Belfast Friendship Club
Small Worlds workshop at Blue Houses, BYFC

Small Worlds are events where participants get to meet people from around the world and find out about their story of migration and their countries of origin. They are facilitated by Belfast Friendship Club. We recently brought Small Worlds to Sacred Hearts Primary School and Ballysillan Youth for Christ. More workshops are planned for next month, with Glenbrook Surestart, Ardoyne Youth Club and R-City Youth.
These workshops are part of our Welcoming Newcomers to North Belfast Programme, supported by the North Belfast Strategic Good Relations Programme.
The programme has also enabled us to support North Belfast Friendship Club over the winter, with food for their Christmas party and a few nights of transport for participants. If you think you could help through putting on a bus for one night, or helping pay for bus fares or food for their meet-ups, get in touch with us, or with them directly on their Facebook page: North Belfast Friendship Club.

Thanks are due to many groups for joining in the project this year, particularly Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre, NBWISP, GROW Community Gardens, Ardoyne Kickhams, Alternatives Restorative Justice, R-City, Carezone, Ballysillan Community Forum, Sacred Heart Primary School, Our Lady's Primary School, Ardoyne Youth Club, Ballysillan Youth for Christ and South Belfast Roundtable.
