Theoretical Museology in U.S. and Tribal Contexts

A Symposium Organized and Hosted by the International  Committee for Museology (ICOFOM), International Council of Museums –U.S. (ICOM-U.S.), the Association of African American Museums (AAAM), and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)

The joint meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) and the International Council of Museums Committee for Museums and Collections of Natural History (ICOM NATHIST) will take place from the 7th – 13th June 2020 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. The theme for the meeting is ‘The Role of Natural History Collections in Global Challenges’.

ICOM-CC (Committee for Conservation) is excited about their 19th Triennial Conference in Beijing, 14-18 September 2020. This will be the first time ICOM-CC goes to “zhōng guó”, 中国 (the Middle Country) for a conference on conservation. The theme of the conference is: Transcending Boundaries: Integrated Approaches to Conservation.The conference will serve as an eye opener as well as a forum for conservation professionals from all over the world to knowledge, traditions, and skills, and learn from each other’s practices, philosophies, and materials.

ICMAH would like to strengthen the network between archaeology and history museums. For the purpose they will soon propose local workshops and events to facilitate sharing experiences. This project will be soon announced on ICMAH

ICOM released the ICOM Social Media Guidelines during ICOM Kyoto 2019, in an effort to share good practices and tips on how to create communication campaigns and efficiently manage social media accounts.
